New York Giants a Profitable NFL Bet

NFL bet history has shown that betting against last year’s Super Bowl winner is usually a good idea. Not so far in 2008 though. The defending Super Bowl champion New York Giants have been the top team in the NFC and through nine games have the second best record both straight up and against the NFL betting pointspread behind the unbeaten Tennessee Titans.

NFL bet wagers on New York have been profitable because the Giants don’t get a lot of respect, despite being Super Bowl champs. Normally a Super Bowl champ would be laying points every week but the Giants have already been underdogs twice this season in NFL betting. They have only been double-digit favorites twice according to NFL bet numbers. The Giants could also easily be an underdog according to NFL bet numbers later in the season as they visit Dallas.

The Giants are not winning with mirrors either according to NFL bet numbers. They are ranked near the top of the league in both offense and defense according to NFL bet stats. Eli Manning is building off last year’s Super Bowl success while the defense hasn’t missed a beat. Most NFL bet experts have already conceded the NFC East to the Giants this season which means they will probably have home field advantage throughout the NFC Playoffs. That may not be good news though considering the Giants have been a far superior team on the road in NFL betting. Last year they won all of their playoff games on the road according to NFL bet numbers.

Gamblers may start to give New York some respect on the NFL bet line as the season progresses but the Giants still won’t get the attention that a team like Dallas does.  That could give them a little bit of NFL betting value in their matchup late in the season against the Cowboys.

NFL bet gamblers might also be looking at the Giants as an over team late in the season. With a potent offense, New York has proven to be a profitable team to take the over with when making an NFL bet this season.
