NFL Betting – Camp Coughlin in Trouble

NFL betting hopes were high for the New York Giants after their opening day win and payout over the Carolina Panthers in which their problems seemed fixed.

Last Week’s Tell
Last week on NBC Sunday Night Football the Giants gave handicappers a better tell than realized at the time when they were lit up for a 38-14 loss by the Indianapolis Colts. Some wrote the NFL bet loss because Indianapolis was coming off a bad opening day loss at Houston and would be motivated to show well at home and on national TV.  But what happened next confirmed that this team is in trouble.

Titans accept Giants Charity
The Tennessee Titans broke away for 19 unanswered 2nd half points in a 29-10 win over the Giants to get the money at Sbgglobal.com as 3 point road dogs as the game stayed under the total of 43.5.  What was most disturbing about the loss for the Giants was that they outgained Tennessee 471-271 but the Titans held a 3-0 turnover advantage that proved to be the difference. New York also helped destroy itself with 11 penalties for 86 yards.  Even more painful was the fact that 2 of the Giants turnovers occurred inside the Titans 6-year line.  Eli Manning had a 44-yard go ahead touchdown pass called back due to a hold and d the Giants missed two field goals.

Coughlin under Fire
Giants coach Tom Coughlin was facing a win or else season after the team fell to 8-8 and out of the playoffs last year.  An NFL betting loss in which victory is basically given away due to blunders and errors does not help his cause or inspire confidence that he is the man to continue leading the franchise.  On the positive defensive coordinator Perry Fewell’s unit showed respectably in 2 out of the first 3 games and the loss to Tennessee could hardly be blamed on the unit that took the brunt of the blame for last year’s debacle.

Sunday Night Redemption?
The Giants will have a golden NFL bet opportunity to redeem themselves for the past two weeks and the embarrassment at Indianapolis next Sunday Night as they host the Chicago Bears on NBC.  It is as good as a must win game for Big Blue who cannot start off at 1-3 with 7 games yet to be played on the road.
