NFL Betting Odds – Jets vs. Patriots on Sunday Afternoon.  The New England Patriots are laying 8.5 points in NFL betting odds to the New York Jets on Sunday afternoon. This is the third meeting between the two teams this season with the home team winning each of the first two.  The Jets were blown out a month ago at New England but this game could be more competitive and the NFL odds at Sbgglobal are moving toward New York.

The Patriots opened up as a 9-point favorites but the number has dropped to 8.5. It is unlikely that it will drop to 7 points though as bettors would then jump on New England. It might drop to 7.5 or 8 though if sportsbooks get more action on New York.  The total on the game is listed at 45 at SBG.

Can the Jets Stop New England’s Offense?
The big question that has to be answered in this game if you are betting the Jets is if they can slow down the Patriots. New England scored more than 30 points in their last eight games.  If they get to that mark again they are probably going to win.  New York has to keep Tom Brady and the Patriots under control to win.  The Patriots haven’t lost in a long time at home with Brady under center and he has been as good as ever this season.  The Jets have Darrelle Revis at cornerback but Brady totally avoided him in their last meeting.  That puts all of the pressure on Antonio Cromartie and he was torched by Brady in their last meeting.

Jets Running Game
If New York is going to win this game then they need another strong game out of running backs LaDainian Tomlinson and Shonn Greene.  They did well last week against the Colts and the best way to stop Brady and the Patriots offense is to keep them off the field.  New York quarterback Mark Sanchez is getting better but New York is not going to win if Sanchez has to throw the ball every down.

Positive Trends
The Jets can win on the road as they are 11-4 ATS in their last 15 road games.  They are also 5-2 ATS in their last 7 playoff road games and they are 12-5 ATS in their last 17 games as an underdog. On the other side, the Patriots are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall.  It is worth noting though that the Patriots are 0-4 against the NFL betting odds in their last 4 playoff home games.
