The Carolina Panthers are already 0-2 this NFL betting online season and they are not waiting to make a chance as they have benched quarterback Matt Moore in favor of rookie Jimmy Clausen.
Normally a team would not overreact after just two games but head coach John Fox knows his job is on the line this season and he can’t wait to make a change. The Panthers are home on Sunday and underdogs in NFL betting against the Cincinnati Bengals. The Panthers are 3-point underdogs at the Sbg global sportsbook. The NFL betting odds on the game have not really been affected since bettors really don’t have a lot of confidence in Moore or Clausen.
Moore a Turnover Machine – In two games this season, Moore has committed six turnovers and produced only two touchdowns. It is really surprising he has played so poorly considering he threw eight TD passes and just one interception as the Panthers finished last season going 4-1. Moore was booed off the field in the home loss to Tampa Bay this past week. He was just 6 of 16 for 125 yards with an interception and a fumble.
Clausen’s Time – It is Clausen’s time to shine. He was taken by Carolina with the 48th overall pick in the NFL Draft. Clausen was a star quarterback at Notre Dame and some scouts considered him one of the top quarterbacks coming out of college. He didn’t do much against Tampa Bay in relief of Moore as he was 7 of 13 for 59 yards and an interception. Clausen has some weapons on offense that should make his job easier. The Panthers have the potent duo of DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart at running back and they have star wide receiver Steve Smith. The Panthers should be able to score points if they get effective play out of the quarterback position. It will be Clausen’s time to produce for the Carolina Panthers
Must-Win Game for Carolina – If John Fox is to save his job then the Panthers can’t start the season at 0-3. It is a tough game this week against a Cincinnati team that has a solid defense. Perhaps going under the total could be the way to go in NFL betting online action.
