NFL Betting Philadelphia Eagles at Indianapolis Colts

Two of the top teams in the NFL meet on Thursday at Indianapolis as the Colts host the Philadelphia Eagles. This should be an intriguing matchup in NFL betting and it can be seen on Fox television. Big news was made last week in Philadelphia when the Eagles signed quarterback Michael Vick. While everyone will be focused on what Vick will do for the Eagles this football betting season they will not be seeing him on Thursday since he is not eligible to play until the final two preseason games. The Eagles sure seem excited to have Vick in training camp, even with the media attention. Receiver DeSean Jackson is very excited saying, “It’s a blessing to be on the same offense. We’ve got a lot of firepower. It’s crazy.”

The Eagles are hoping that Vick can add something to their offense when he is eligible to play. The Eagles lost their preseason opener to the Patriots 27-25. The Eagles second string quarterback Kevin Kolb is injured so expected to see a lot of A.J. Feeley again this week after Donovan McNabb plays for about a quarter. That might not be a bad thing in NFL considering he threw for over 200 yards in last week’s loss and nearly led the Eagles to a come-from-behind win.

The Colts are coming off a 13-3 loss to Minnesota in their NFL betting preseason opener and the team didn’t play well under new head coach Jim Caldwell. One of the few positives in the game against the Vikings was the running of rookie running back Donald Brown. He finished with five carries for 58 yards in relief of starting running back Joseph Addai. “Donald did a nice job there,” Head Coach Jim Caldwell said. “He ran a trap that popped open, and he was able to make a sizable gain. He showed a nice spark in there, and we are happy to see that.”

The Colts are a risky wager this NFL preseason because backup quarterback Jim Sorgi is injured. He may not play on Thursday so it will be Peyton Manning for perhaps a quarter followed by rookie quarterback Curtis Painter. The Colts will try and be improved from last week though. “We are excited to get an opportunity to improve this week, first of all. That is our number one goal.” Caldwell said.
