With the 2015-16 NFL Regular season moving into Week 11 we have a Thursday Night Football game for the NFL with the rival 2-7 Titans of Tennessee (AFC South) playing at the 3-6 Jaguars of Jacksonville (AFC South) with the game being played at the EverBank Field in Jacksonville, Florida with kick-off scheduled for 8:25 PM ET and seen on the NFL Network.
The early Vegas odds for those that Bet on NFL football have the 3-6 Jaguars favored at -3 -105 and the Over/under at 43 ½ and -145 on the Money Line, while the underdog 2-7 Titans of Tennessee are at +3 -115 and +125 on the ML.
As strange as it may be this game between the Jaguars and the Titans has a definite implication on the standings of the AFC South as the other division are the Colts at 4-5 and the Texans at 3-5! Thus all 4 teams can be in contention for the title this season at this time. But can either of the 2 teams in this game get a win a stay up with the division leaders Indianapolis?
If you are a fan of the 2-7 Titans of Tennessee you know your team had a road win over the Saints 34-28 then this past Sunday they went back to their old ways of losing as they lost to the undefeated Panthers of Carolina 27-10, and were unable as underdogs to cover the spread for the game, and dropped in their wins against the spread to 3 wins and 6 losses.
Their top drafted rookie QB M. Mariota had 1 intercept and 2 fumbles in the game and completed 16 of his 24 passing attempts for some 186 yards in the air. The Tennessee running game could not get it together in the game as they only rushed for 21 yards gaining some 65 yards. To date their offense has only managed to score 18.6 points each game, and appear to lack skilled players in their key positions this season. In their past 2 games they have been without star WR K. Wright with a knee injury, and J. Hunter who last week suffered an ankle break.
Fortunately they still have their TE D. Walker who shone in their win over the Saints as he had receptions for 96 yards and scored 2 TD’s, and he should have a good game against the Jaguars as their defense has always had problems covering TE’s, plus they are ranked 29th in defense against TE’s in the league this 2015.
On the defensive side the Titans have struggle, but they have a very talented pass rushing group, and rank 2nd after the Broncos for the sack rate to date. Plus, the Jaguars QB J. Bortles is a good target behind the struggling Jaguars offensive line unit, and that can help the Titans to slow down the Jaguars fast game via the air waves.
If you like the 3-6 Jaguars of Jacksonville then you know your team had a star on their side as the be the Ravens of Baltimore as they were rewarded FG position, as the Ravens were called for a face mask penalty, then the Jaguars FG kicker J. Myers made a 53 yarder as time expired to win the game.
The offense unit of the Jaguars struggle during that entire game, and their 2nd year QB Bortles only completed 48 percent of his passing attempts, and was sacked on 4 occasions. Also their key rookie RB T. Yeldon only rushed for 62 yards and average 3.4 yard on each of his carries. Their duo of WR’s in A. Hurns and A. Robinson had a good game at they both had a score on a reception in the game. WR Hurns increased his run of consecutive game with at least 1 TD to 7 games. Certainly with those injuries the Jaguars will look for relieve from their WR’s.
However, the Jaguars still should be able to hold their own defensively against the Titans offense that has struggled in all phase of their games this 2015 season. In their ultimate 4 home games with the Titans the Jags are with 3 wins and 1 loss against the spread.
The prediction on this game is made with consideration of the QB’s, and it is believed that the Jaguars QB Bortles will outdo the Titans QB Mariota and the Jags win the game on home field 27-21!
