NFL Odds – Chargers Make a Key Trade for a Dallas Wide Receiver

As you consider NFL odds, you probably already know that the San Diego Chargers are without top wide receiver Vincent Jackson who is holding out.

What you may not know is that the Chargers made a trade on Friday that will help them replace Jackson. San Diego traded for Dallas wide receiver Patrick Crayton.  While Crayton doesn’t get a lot of headlines, he is a very good receiver who can help San Diego against the NFL betting odds.

San Diego is one of the Super Bowl favorites at Sbg global.com. They are 7.5 to 1 to win the Super Bowl. The only team in the AFC with lower NFL betting odds is Indianapolis who is 5-1.  The Chargers were thought to have some definite issues at receiver with Vincent Jackson holding out but those issues are less now that they have Patrick Crayton.

Steal for San Diego – Getting Crayton from Dallas for a 7th round pick is a steal for the Chargers.  Crayton is going to go right into the starting lineup and be the number two receiver behind Malcolm Floyd. How often do you get a starting wide receiver for a 7th round pick?  Not very often, that is for sure.

Crayton’s Numbers – Crayton does not have great numbers but they are not too bad considering he didn’t start every game for Dallas.  Since 2004, Crayton has started 33 games and caught 196 passes for 2,888 yards and 23 touchdowns.  He played in 82 games but with Dallas he only started just over a third of them.  Crayton has wanted out of Dallas for a while, especially after the Cowboys drafted Dez Bryant in the first round.

San Diego Should Trade Jackson – The Chargers made a great deal getting Crayton and now they should trade Jackson.  He is not going to be playing anytime soon for them.  San Diego held firm and didn’t give Jackson what he wanted and now they don’t need him.  Jackson was hoping to get big money from San Diego but those hopes are now gone.  The Chargers should trade him to a team like Seattle or Minnesota who is desperate for help at wide receiver.  The Chargers chances against the NFL odds improved with the addition of Crayton and they might get even better if they get something in return for Jackson.
