NFL Odds – The Experience Edge in Super Bowl XLV Goes to Pittsburgh

NFL Odds – The Experience Edge in Super Bowl XLV Goes to Pittsburgh. The Green Bay Packers are favored in NFL odds for Super Bowl XLV but there is no question that the Pittsburgh Steelers have the edge in experience.  This will be the third trip to the Super Bowl in the past six seasons for the Steelers while the Packers have not played in the big game in 13 years.  The experience edge could give Pittsburgh the advantage in NFL betting odds at the Sbg sportsbook.

Pittsburgh Experience
A total of 10 players on Pittsburgh’s team were on both the 2005 and 2008 Pittsburgh teams that won the Super Bowl and overall the Steelers have a total of 25 players who have played in a Super Bowl.  The Steelers know all about the pressure of the big game and they know how to win it.  Conversely, the Packers have no players who have ever won a Super Bowl and only two, Charles Woodson and Ryan Pickett who have ever played in the game.  The experience edge in Super Bowl XLV definitely goes to the Steelers in this game.

Recent History Supports Pittsburgh
Two years ago the Steelers beat the Arizona Cardinals who were playing in their first ever Super Bowl.  Five years ago the Steelers beat Seattle who was playing in their first ever Super Bowl.  The Packers have been in the Super Bowl before as a franchise but this current group has virtually no experience in a big game.  Pittsburgh has gone through the Super Bowl experience trend throughout history.  In Super Bowl XXX the Steelers didn’t have the experience and lost the more experienced Cowboys.  If you go back farther you will find that the 1979 Steelers won a Super Bowl against the Rams who were making their first-ever appearance.

Last Meeting
The last time the Steelers and Packers played in NFL odds was in the 2009 regular season and it was a shootout with the Steelers winning 37-36.  Ben Roethlisberger threw for a ridiculous 503 yards which was a career high while Aaron Rodgers was also excellent throwing for 383 yards and three TDs. If this year’s Super Bowl is as good as that game then we are in for a classic in NFL betting odds on Sunday, February 6th.
