Can the Underdogs in NFL Playoffs Odds Win this Weekend?

NFL Playoffs: Can the Underdogs in NFL Playoffs Odds this Weekend?  All four teams that won last week in the Wild Card round are underdogs this weekend in NFL playoffs odds. Can any of the four teams win?  Which teams have the best chance to cover the odds in NFL playoffs betting at SBG?

What Happened Last Year?
Last year in the divisional round three of the four Wild Card winners lost both straight up and against the spread.  The only team to win and cover was the New York Jets who won at San Diego.  Arizona, Dallas and Baltimore all lost.  Is it normal for Wild Card winners to lose the next week?  The answer is yes but just barely.

Wild Card Teams Can Cover
From 2005 to 2008 the Wild Card winners went 7-9 straight up and that is actually not too bad but where they excelled was against the spread.  The Wild Card winners went a sparkling 12-4 ATS.  Will this year’s teams go back to covering the spread or will it be like last season when three of the four lost? What about when a team is laying big points in the divisional round?  Do the Wild Card winners have a chance?  In the last six years the NFC teams getting big points have not done very well going 3-5 ATS.  In the AFC though the big dogs have come through with flying colors going 5-0 ATS in the last six years and twice in the five games they won outright.  This week the two big dogs are Seattle and the New York Jets.  History says the Jets have the best chance of covering.

NFC Teams
The teams that won last week in the NFC were the Packers and the Seahawks.  Bettors give Green Bay a lot better chance of winning and covering than they give the Seahawks. It could be that neither team does well in NFL playoffs betting.  Look for Atlanta and Chicago to win this week and for the Falcons to host the Bears in next week’s NFC Championship.

AFC Teams
The AFC teams that won last week were Baltimore and the N.Y. Jets.  The underdogs might have a better chance in the AFC than they do in the NFC but it is still tough to go against Tom Brady and Ben Roethlisberger although the Jets and Ravens may cover the NFL playoffs odds.
