The Miami Dolphins and Jacksonville Jaguars get together in NFL preseason betting on Saturday with the Jaguars a two-point favorite. The Dolphins are the better team but in NFL preseason odds the home team is usually favored. NFL preseason betting on the Dolphins and Jaguars happens on a regular basis since the teams like to play each other so they don’t have to travel very far. The Dolphins didn’t look very good last week but they still won since they were playing the pathetic Buccaneers. You should also know that last week’s game was a muddy mess so not much should be taken from the 10-7 Miami win.
Brandon Marshall: Last week was the debut of Miami’s new receiver Brandon Marshall and he did not play well as he dropped a couple of passes. He has been pissed off this week in practice so look for him to have a good effort on Saturday. Miami teammates have noticed that Marshall is very hard on himself and they expect a good effort from him against the Jaguars.
Miami Quarterbacks: The Dolphins have a solid quartet of quarterbacks with Chad Henne, Chad Pennington, Tyler Thigpen and Pat White. Henne should get a little more work this week and the Dolphins liked what they saw from Thigpen last week. Pennington is a proven NFL quarterback so he won’t play much in the preseason. Pat White could be on his way out as there really isn’t a spot for him with Miami.
Jacksonville Quarterbacks: The Jaguars have a solid starter in David Garrard and a quality back in Luke McCown. Last week McCown threw three TDs in relief of Garrard in Jacksonville’s 28-27 loss against Philadelphia. Trevor Harris is the third string quarterback and he was solid as well even though the Jags lost.
Prediction: This could be a game where you need to show some restraint. The Jaguars and Dolphins have split their eight all-time preseason meetings and you can pretty much flip a coin in this game as well. Last season the game ended 12-9 so taking the under might not be a bad choice with this one. The total at SBG on the game is 36 and that number may be a little bit too high.
