The New York Jets may be the most overrated team in NFL wagering online action and things did not get any better on Tuesday. The Jets lost former Pro Bowl tackle Kris Jenkins for the season due to a knee injury. As if losing against the Ravens wasn’t bad enough, now the Jets will have to replace a huge part of the defensive line. Gamblers will have to be wary about making an NFL bet on the Jets.
The New York Jets were one of the preseason favorites to win the Super Bowl. They have a brash head coach in Rex Ryan and he was talking up his team as Super Bowl favorites. That talk should die down after the Jets lost their home opener. New York’s offense was awful as they put up just nine points. The defense was good but now even the defense has issues with Jenkins out for the year.
New York is Still Good – The Jets are still a very good football team but they are not Super Bowl favorites. New York recovered last year after Jenkins was lost and finished with the top defense in the league. They could still finish that way again but it will be more difficult. New York was counting on Jenkins to be healthy, especially since they already lost defensive end Ropati Pitoitua.
Jets Home Underdogs This Week – The Jets could easily start the season 0-2 because they have a very tough game this week as they host the New England Patriots. The Patriots were very impressive last week as they routed the Bengals. It will be a big test for New York to get ready for Tom Brady and the Patriots. The Jets Super Bowl NFL wagering online odds have already fallen to 13-1 at Sbgglobal and they would fall even further if they suffer a second straight loss to start the season.
Tough Early Schedule – The Jets do not have an easy schedule to start the season. They host the Patriots this week and then go to Miami next week. It is not hard to see a 0-3 start. They should win at Buffalo in Week 4 but then they have to host Minnesota in Week 5 and then go to Denver in Week 6. Neither of those games is going to be easy. They will need that bye in Week 7.
