NFL Wagering Online – Vikings Laying 4.5 to Broncos on Thursday

The Minnesota Vikings are favored in NFL wagering online odds on Thursday as they host the Denver Broncos in preseason action. Minnesota’s first string offense has not looked good in the preseason but they still probably won’t get much work on Thursday since it is the final preseason game.  The Broncos starters likely won’t play long either so you have to consider the backups when you make an NFL bet.

Sbg global lists the Vikings as 4.5 point favorites against Denver with the total at 35.5.  The Vikings are thought to have a better situation at backup quarterback which is one reason they are favored.  Brett Favre may get a couple series and then it is likely to be Tarvaris Jackson, Sage Rosenfels and Joe Webb. The Vikings would like to give new wide receivers Greg Camarillo and Javon Walker some more work this week.

Minnesota backups – The Vikings have gotten good play out of Sage Rosenfels in the preseason but he is still listed at number three behind Favre and Tarvaris Jackson on the Vikings depth chart.  Minnesota would like to keep rookie Joe Webb so they may have to trade or even cut Rosenfels.  That would be too bad considering Rosenfels is 30-of-47 passing for 392 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions in the preseason.  It is very possible that Rosenfels would be traded because Minnesota is in love with Jackson as their future quarterback. That would be a mistake because Rosenfels is better.  The Colts should be calling right now for Rosenfels as they have nothing behind Peyton Manning.

Denver QB’s – The Broncos are likely to give Brady Quinn and Tim Tebow the bulk of the work on Thursday. Tebow was 5-of-10 last week for 72 yards with a TD and an interception.  The Broncos still have injury issues at running back but Knowshon Moreno and Correll Buckhalter are close to being healthy and might get a few carries on Thursday.

Preseason Series: The edge in the all-time series goes to the Vikings as they have won 6 of the 11 meetings in the preseason.  The teams have not played in the preseason since 1987.  Minnesota is expected to extend that preseason success as they are solid favorites in NFL wagering online numbers.
