2023 NFL Week 8 Schedule Highlights

Now for 2023, the Bills remain in the elite section of the board. Buffalo features a prolific offense led by QB Josh Allen. Allen has emerged as a perennial All-Pro with a good supporting cast. Defensively, Buffalo was dominant for most of the year. But teams eventually found offshore betting weaknesses in their pass defense that were exposed. The AFC East will be one of the most competitive in 2023. On the whole, Buffalo remains the most complete-looking team.

By contrast, the best days of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have ended with the retirement of Tom Brady. But there is a wild card that could flip the script for the Bucs. Baker Mayfield was acquired to give the Buccaneers a potential asset and likely project at QB. Previously, Mayfield arrived at the Cleveland Browns as a first-round draft pick. Three teams later, he is with the Bucs. Mayfield had some flashes of promise with the Rams at the end of last season. Now for both player and team, it’s a chance for a resurgence.

And then NBC Sunday Night Football gets an intriguing matchup. The Los Angeles Chargers will host the Chicago Bears. It is true that the Chargers made the 2022 NFL Playoffs. Also, it’s a fact that they had one of the greatest meltdowns in NFL Playoff history. The Chargers blew a 27-0 lead in a stunning Pro football betting odds loss to the young Jacksonville Jaguars. Head coach Brandon Staley lost almost all credibility in the setback. As a result, he is in one of the hottest seats in football.

Staley is not without assets, starting with quarterback Justin Herbert. When Herbert was taken in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, he lifted the Chargers from a loser into a contender. Although the Kansas City Chiefs remain in the AFC West class, the Chargers are a threat to challenge KC as well as for an AFC Playoff berth.

Not long ago, ESPN Monday Night Football grew stale with a weak schedule and a revolving door of announcers. However, that is no longer the case. These days, ESPN boasts a strong schedule with top games every week. Certainly, Week 8 is no exception. The Detroit Lions will host the Las Vegas Raiders in an interconference battle of playoff contenders.
