NFL Superbowl Odds and Football Betting Lines

NFL odds especially Super Bowl odds, are the most popular of all forms football odds. NFL odds are the most popular on point-spread sides. This is also known as the betting spread, or the line. Gamblers have a choice of taking the favorite at minus points or the dog at plus points in football lines.

Also available on all NFL games and many college games are Over/under football odds, also known as totals. That is where you are wagering on whether or not the combined score between two teams will go over or under the football lines.

For gamblers that don’t like pointspreads but believe that they can pick winners straight up, then money line football betting lines are great options. Instead of laying or taking points with football betting odds, a gambler can either lay NFL betting odds on the favorite or take NFL football lines on the dog.

Gamblers can also choose to bet parlays. A parlay is a group of plays ranging from two to ten that are merged into a single wager in which all of the plays must win for the bet to win versus the football lines.

Teaser wagering is similar to parlays with the difference being you get points added to your wager. For example, a team that was a +4 point underdog on the regular and parlay line is a +10 dog on the 6-point teaser line. The trade off is that teasers payoff at lesser football odds than parlays.

Another popular option with NFL lines is “Futures” where you bet on a team to win the Super Bowl, division, season wins, etc. These are NFL betting lines that gamblers like to look at before the season begins but are also available throughout the year.

2014 SUPER BOWL XLVIII – BATTLE OF THE NO. 1s!

The Super Bowl XLVIII will feature the Battle of the Number 1’s. Most have heard the expression ‘the immovable object versus the irresistible force’ that has been used as narrative in many sporting events.  That expression will be used very often by everyone leading to this weekend’s Super Bowl.

The reason is because he Denver Broncos and their high powered offense which happens to be the best in the NFL, will face the Seattle Seahawks who have a defense that suffocates the opponent and is ranked number one in the league. Thus, it all comes down to the classic question of who can force their strengths on the opposing team to win the game. It’s #1 against #1 for all the marbles.

The Super Bowl XLVIII is the 48th Super Bowl to be played,  and it is just the sixth  time that two (2) ranked #1 teams on offense and defense will have play for the Lombardi Super Bowl Trophy. The real question for this game is whether there really is any relevance to a game based on previous history of the super bowl games, and how this game, which features two number one teams on opposites of the ball, will be determined.

2014 SUPER BOWL XLVIII – THE WEATHER!

A 2014 Super Bowl forecast reports weather with snow covering the Newark area. But that’s another day, and another forecast with less than seven days before Super Bowl XLVIII at the MetLife Stadium in Rutherford, New Jersey with kickoff scheduled for 6:35 pm ET may be available. Thus, you probably may feel excited, but if you go to the game, prepare for a little cold.

An ESPN reporter is there and feeling the cold.  He had never been to New York City before, and actually left a day sooner and landed in Newark which is the airport where the Broncos and Seahawks will land.  When he arrived his picture for Sunday’s game was a terrifying one. He said it will get warmer this week, but still all could be covered in snow the entire time, and that’s still not a guaranteed prediction.

When the time comes, it will be cold when the teams kick-off. The weather channel has changed their prediction of snow from 40% for Saturday to 60% for the Sunday game,  and still not really sure of Saturday’s weather.  Then Weather Underground stated they are staying with the prediction of Ice Pellets for the Sunday game. They in turn predict just the opposite with Saturday having 60% and on 40% precipitation Sunday.

2014 SUPER BOWL XLVIII – TOP 10 SUPER BOWL HALFTIME SHOWS!

It’s quite amazing to see the ranking of the Top Ten NFL Super Bowl Half Time Shows as they took place.  The 10th spot was Diana Ross, who was the star for the Super Bowl’s 30th anniversary,  and she filled the entire show with what was officially called Take Me Higher.  The show had no real reference to the Super Bowl other than the roman numerals XXX painted on the field.  It was great hearing her sing all her hits live, not like some on this list, but it seemed there were too many song changes as well as wardrobe changes. It was a quite awesome when she left the stage via an incoming helicopter which took her away.  However, for fanatics who Bet the NFL the show did nothing to help them.

Then ranking 9th was The Rolling Stones and the stage indicated it would be an awesome concert in 2006 as the British bad boys rocked the stage at Ford Field for Super Bowl XL on February 5th in 2006. The hip swaying Mike Jagger was on fire and the audience at Ford Field in Detroit really enjoyed the full performance.

Number 8 was Sir Paul McCartney, the former Beatle and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer who performed in 2005, which was Super Bowl XXXIX on February 6th in Jacksonville, Florida. The performance was not quite what was expected with “Get Back,” “Drive My Car,” “Hey Jude,” and “Live and Let Die.”  They were not songs that were really memorable from the Beatles years.
