The New England Patriots came into the season as online NFL betting favorites to win the Super Bowl and from what we’ve seen in 10 games; the Patriots certainly have the make-up of a championship winning team. Tom Brady might have missed the first four games of the season, but you couldn’t tell it by looking at his numbers. Currently, Brady has thrown for 16 touchdowns, 1,915 yards, and just one interception giving the 4-time Super Bowl winning quarterback a passer rating of 123.3. There are many great players currently competing for the MVP award; Ezekiel Elliot, Derek Carr, Dak Prescott, and Matt Ryan, but with a 16:1 touchdown-to-interception ratio, Brady is unlike no other candidate.
The sportsbooks list Brady as the favorite to take the MVP award home with him at the end of the year, and they also list the Pats as the favorite to take home the Vince Lombardi Trophy. With Brady as their quarterback, it’s hard to argue anything different.
In Week 12 the Patriots will have to face off with a familiar opponent, the New York Jets. Despite the season being nearly over, this will be the first time New England faces the Jets. In Week 16 the Pats will once again have to face off against their AFC East rival, and considering that the Jets sport a 3-7 record, New York is likely to lose both contests. Let’s see how much the online NFL betting odds are favoring the Patriots this Sunday.
NFL Odds – Week 12 – Sunday, November 27th
New England Patriots -8 (-110) 46½ (-110)
New York Jets +8 (-110) 46½ (-110)
The odds on NFL football games are favoring the Patriots by 8-points which is a clear indication of the dissimilarity between these two teams. New England are legitimate Super Bowl contenders while the Jets will miss out on the playoffs for the 6th straight season. The Jets’ offense ranks near the bottom of the league while the Patriots have one of the best offenses in the league. Defensively both of these teams rank near the halfway point in the NFL but the biggest difference is in how many points both teams are allowing. The Jets are giving up an average of 24.4 points per contest, the 21st most amount of points conceded in the league, while the Pats are only giving up 18 points per game, the 3rd best average in the NFL.
So what is New York’s best chance at upsetting the online NFL betting odds? Their running game. If New York can maintain ball possession and somehow keep themselves from giving up big plays in the passing game, the Jets might be able to pull off an upset. Granted they would need a good day from their kicker, since the pats aren’t known for giving up touchdowns.
