2025 Philadelphia Eagles NFL Draft Team Preview
There probably isn’t an NFL roster in better shape for the long haul than the Eagles. To show, they have relatively young stars at just about every major position, and most of them are locked into long-term deals. That’s a good online betting place to be fresh off a commanding Super Bowl victory over the Kansas City Chiefs. Now with a healthy amount of salary cap room, this team can afford to keep the band together. Also, it can re-sign the few key players who are on expiring contracts.
With this core, the Eagles have already won a title and came close to winning another one two years prior. And there’s no 2025 NFL futures reason why they shouldn’t continue to contend in the coming years. Especially with QB Jalen Hurts and RB Saquon Barkley leading an elite running attack and the defense continuing to draft and develop stars like DE Jalen Carter, DL Jordan Davis and CB Quinyon Mitchell.
Philadelphia Eagles 2025 NFL Draft Summary
In sum, the top three needs for Philadelphia are S, DT, and LB. The decision to trade C.J. Gardner-Johnson to the Texans created an opening at starting safety opposite Reed Blankenship. Former third-round pick Sydney Brown should have a chance to vie for the spot. But Philadelphia will want to add competition and depth there before the start of the season.
Similarly, the loss of Milton Williams in free agency means the defensive tackle position could use reinforcements behind Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis. The Eagles inked All-Pro linebacker Zack Baun to an extension. Still, with Nakobe Dean recovering from a torn patellar tendon, it would be smart to strengthen the linebacker room. Tight end should be mentioned here as well, particularly if the Eagles move on from Dallas Goedert, as has been speculated.
The best prospect to fill a need outside Round 1 is Kevin Winston Jr., S, Penn State. To show, he is a rangy free safety prospect. Winston is coming off an ACL injury suffered in mid-September, but he has the profile of a patrolman from a deep safety alignment. Hence, he could supplant Blankenship in the starting lineup.
The No. 3 wideout role is the only blemish on the Eagles’ stacked offense. But it hasn’t been an issue because A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith make up for the lack of depth at the position. Correlate Philadelphia has succession plans to account for the free agency departures of defensive tackle Milton Williams and edge rusher Josh Sweat.
