Once upon a time the Miami Dolphins were synonymous with bet on NFL success. Everyone knows that the 1972 Dolphins remain the only team to go undefeated for an NFL season. However, those memories are beginning to fade with older Miami fans. The younger generation has little connection to the two-time Super Bowl champions of 46 years ago. For this group of Dolphin fans mediocrity has been their inheritance. Miami has made the playoffs twice since 2002. And has posted only one winning season in the last ten. By contrast the Baltimore Ravens have been a consistent contender.

Ravens Begin New Era with Jackson
On the whole the Ravens have been much more successful than the Dolphins over the past two decades. Because of this it’s hard to believe that they will begin a brand-new era for 2019. Long time starting quarterback Joe Flacco is gone. Taking Flacco’s place is 2016 Heisman Trophy winner Lamar Jackson. Jackson emerged as the starter after outperforming Flacco in 2018. He may also have saved head coach John Harbaugh’s job. Baltimore made the playoffs thanks to Jackson. Flacco’s play has worsened over the years and he won’t be missed.
Another New Miami Coach
Brian Flores enters 2018 as the new head coach of the Miami Dolphins. Of great concern is that he’s the ninth man to have that title since 2004. Flores is 38 years old and arrives from the New England Patriots. At New England, Flores coached the linebackers. Despite the fact that he has never even been a coordinator he got the gig as Miami head coach. Cause by his association with Bill Belichick’s dynasty did he rise as a candidate.
Ravens and Dolphins Betting Trends
Baltimore has not been a strong bet on NFL value as a road chalk. To illuminate the Ravens have paid in only four of their last 14 in that role. Six of their last eight as away favorites have gone under the total. By contrast the Dolphins have been a bit better as a home dog. Miami has gotten the cash in four of their last six getting points at Hard Rock Stadium. Nine of their last 11 in that role have gone over the total.
Baltimore vs. Miami Head to Head vs. Spread
Against Miami the Ravens have had strong online betting success. Baltimore has covered eight consecutive games against the Dolphins. Three of the last five in this series went over the total. Additionally, the Ravens have covered five straight games at Miami. Three of their last four visits to Hard Rock Stadium have gone under the number.
Matchup to Watch
A clear difference in ability should be obvious between these teams. Baltimore’s bet on NFL dominance over Miami states the case profoundly. Additionally, Harbaugh owns the coaching edge over the unfortunate Flores. Miami’s 29th ranked defense should be lit up early and often by Jackson.
