Saints Big NFL Bets Chalks to Dethrone Eagles Sunday Divisional Playoff

Philadelphia Eagles vs. New Orleans Saints

A clear difference can be seen with the New Orleans Saints this year compared to the past.  The Saints became the top seed in the NFC thanks in large part to a defense that is no longer a liability.  It follows that with Drew Brees at quarterback the Saints became highly profitable for NFL bets.  The Philadelphia Eagles had to rally to make the playoffs as a wild card team.  But the defending Super Bowl champions showed their ability with an upset playoff win at Chicago last week.  Once again Nick Foles has come off the bench to rally Philadelphia.

Philadelphia Eagles

Last week Philadelphia was given little chance at Chicago against a vastly improved Bears team.  Yet the Eagles playoff experience prevailed in a 16-15 payout as 6.5 dogs.  More emphatically Philadelphia continues to respond with quarterback Nick Foles in command.  The backup and hero of last year’s Super Bowl may not put up big numbers but remains an asset for NFL bets.  Against the Bears Foles threw for 286 yards and two touchdowns.   On the whole Philadelphia finished 9-7 straight up, 7-9 vs. the odds, and 7-9 under the total.

New Orleans Saints

New Orleans is the top seed in the NFC and champions of the NFC South.  To show the Saints posted a sportsbook record of 13-3 straight up, 10-6 against the spread, and 7-9 under the total.  However, the Saints faded badly down the stretch with four losses on the board in their final five games.  Most important of all to New Orleans success is a defense that improved to rank 14th in the NFL.  Paired with the NFL’s third ranked scoring offense it becomes a top asset.  Naturally Drew Brees posted a 115.7 rating with 32 touchdown passes.

Stats to Consider

Philadelphia has shown profitability as a road dog recently.  As an example, the Eagles have covered four of their last six getting points on the road.  Just one of their last four in that situation have gone over the total.  Along the same lines the Saints have had recent success as a home chalk.  New Orleans has paid in three of their last five laying points at home.  Five of their last eight in that situation have gone over the total.

Team vs. Team

Late on New Orleans has had the advantage over the Eagles in their head to head series.  The Saints have covered four of their last five against Philadelphia.  Three of the last four between these teams went under the total.  Additionally, New Orleans has won and covered their last two home games against the Eagles.  Both games went under the total.

Matchup to Watch

It follows that a win at New Orleans is a tall ask in the playoffs.  As mentioned earlier the Saints have had the superior NFL bets value in their series with the Eagles.  And as clutch as Foles has been he is no Drew Brees.   While it’s a big number the Saints have the firepower to get the cash.
