The Same AFC Favorites Remain After the 2023 NFL Draft

The 2023 NFL Draft has ended with great fanfare and hype. But outside of the New York Jets, the same pre-draft AFC favorites remain post-draft. The Kansas City Chiefs continue to hold the top spot with the NFL odds. Following the Chiefs are the usual suspects. The top choices are the Cincinnati Bengals, Buffalo Bills, Los Angeles Chargers, and Baltimore Ravens. The arrival of Aaron Rodgers has boosted the Jets’ gambling brand. While the Denver Broncos are an odd choice in the upper half.

Texas Get Boost With CJ Stroud

Houston Texans general manager Nick Caserio hinted he would pass on quarterback CJ Stroud. However, it was a classic play-action fake. Instead, Houston drafted Stroud. And then they moved up for Will Anderson. Some will say that the Texans surrendered too much for a non-quarterback. Yet they’d feel differently if Houston used the No. 2 pick on Anderson and then traded up for Stroud, even though it would be the same thing.

This wasn’t the only positive thing the Texans did during the 2023 NFL Draft, as they drafted some potential late-round gems. Namely, Henry To’o To’o was an offshore betting steal in the fifth round, while the same could be said of Jarrett Patterson and Xavier Hutchinson in the sixth frame.

Colts Corral Anthony Richardson

On the whole, the Indianapolis Colts had one of the best drafts of any team. But Indy is not without controversy. Anthony Richardson is a project quarterback. But a project with a potentially huge NFL betting odds payoff. Richardson has far more upside than busts like Josh Rosen. Also, he possesses a higher floor because he runs a 4.4, just like Justin Fields. So he’ll be able to pick up tons of rushing yardage at the very least.

In sum, the Colts ended up with a franchise quarterback at No. 4; a talented cornerback obtained after trading down twice to open the second round; a receiver pegged in the second round obtained at No. 79; and a mega value in Ade Adebawore at No. 110. Certainly, all of these selections filled major needs. Including a potential franchise left tackle. Thus, the Colts did an amazing job of strengthening their roster in the 2023 NFL Draft. They deserve an “A” grade.

Humiliated Will Levis Lands in Tennessee

Will Levis sat waiting to be called in the first round of the NFL Draft. Instead, he sat in humiliation with his beautiful girlfriend as he was passed over. Social media focused on Levis’s date more than his humiliating rejection. Finally, Will Levis ended up as a second-round pick of the Tennessee Titans.

Correlate that the Titans agree that they are in a complete rebuild. Two of their first three selections were used on players who will potentially replace their backfield tandem of Ryan Tannehill and Derrick Henry. Tennessee traded up for Will Levis in the second round to be the successor for Tannehill. Of great concern is that Levis has horrible accuracy and a lack of touch. But he was at least worth a gamble. Meanwhile, Henry’s replacement could be Tyjae Spears, taken in the third round.
