Same Favorites and New Sleepers in AFC Post 2021 NFL Draft

Following one of the most anticipated NFL Drafts in history is the same fact. Kansas City, Buffalo, and Baltimore remain overwhelming AFC favorites with the NFL odds. Overall, Miami, Cleveland, and the Jets got the highest marks for their 2021 NFL Draft performances. Gamblers are not sold on that translating into an AFC Championship for 2021. Yet, we know that can change as a season progresses. Teams that merit attention includes the Jaguars, Steelers, and Patriots. Each successfully addressed critical needs on Draft Night. By contrast, the Raiders and Texans failed to improve themselves. Long seasons beckon for both.

Pittsburgh Steelers

First-round pick Najee Harris fills the massive hole left by LeVeon Bell’s departure. Harris may be the most valuable pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Not the best or top-rated but the most helpful. Pittsburgh desperately needed a workhorse running back. Now they have one out of Alabama. Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban makes players ready for NFL success.

Jacksonville Jaguars

Naturally, quarterback Trevor Lawrence was the most coveted player. Lawrence joins new coach Urban Meyer as the Jaguars’ cornerstone building block. Running back Travis Etienne may be just as valuable. Cause by Etienne bringing the offshore bookmaker factor of a balanced offense. Etienne will keep the heat off Lawrence. Defenses won’t be able to tee off on Lawrence with the Clemson star in the backfield. But what do the Jaguares do with James Robinson?

New England Patriots

Of course, the Patriots were desperate for quarterback help. Cam Newton may be the depth chart starter, but that’s not for long. Mac Jones arrives from Alabama as heir apparent to Newton. Jones was touted as a top-three pick destined for San Francisco. However, it was all a smokescreen. Jones is more of the Tom Brady prototype than Newton was. He works hard, studies, and makes great reads. He also played for a powerhouse that easily overwhelmed most of its opponents. As a result, there are plenty of doubters regarding Jones. But most agree he is an upgrade over Newton.

Denver Broncos

At the beginning of the 2021 NFL Draft was the word the Broncos wanted a quarterback. Denver decided to fortify an already strong defense with cornerback Patrick Surtain II out of Alabama. Offensively, Denver likely improved themselves to a large degree, with North Carolina running back Javonte Williams.

Miami Dolphins

Most important of all, the Dolphins got the biggest game breaker in the 2021 NFL Draft. Alabama receiver Jaylen Waddle is quarterback Tua Tagovailoa’s former college teammate. No other receiver matches Waddle’s burner ability.

New York Jets

Few teams are more consistently panned than the Jets. And with plenty of good reason. For all that negativity, New York improved itself immensely at the Draft. Zach Wilson arrives with serious bona fides after a breakout senior season. But the Jets’ NFL betting prospects improved in later rounds too. Namely, offensive guard Alijah Vera Tucker, wide receiver Elijah Moore, and running back Michael Carter can change the New York narrative.
