The Pittsburgh Steelers are a legacy NFL franchise. At the beginning are six Super Bowl championships, eight AFC titles, and 24 division championships. If Pittsburgh isn’t the greatest football town in America, it’s second to whoever is first. Thus, the past few seasons have been a major disappointment with the NFL odds. Pittsburgh’s last Super Bowl championship season was in 2008. And their last Super Bowl appearance was in the 2010 campaign. The Steelers have made the playoffs in six of the previous eight years. But they have not been a serious Super Bowl contender since 2017.

Pittsburgh Steelers SBG Odds Overview
One of the Steelers’ strengths is seen by some as a weakness. Since 1969 the stable Steelers have had only three head coaches. Current head coach Mike Tomlin has been on the job since 2007. He has never had a losing season. But a lot of Steeler fans don’t care. To illuminate, these folks believe that Tomlin failed to get the most out of the Ben Roethlisberger era. The 2-time Super Bowl championship quarterback retired after the 2021 campaign.
Not all of this is on Tomlin. But the sluggish play of the Steelers in many 2021 games was a sportsbook turnoff. Now Big Ben is gone, and the Steelers are looking for a new quarterback.
Mitch Trubisky – Savior or Stopgap?
Once upon a time, Sixth-year pro Mitch Trubisky was a hot quarterbacking property. In 2018 Trubisky was a Pro Bowler for the Chicago Bears. That season Trubisky compiled a 95.4 QB rating and led the Bears to the NFC North title. In the 2020 season, Trubisky had something of a comeback campaign with a 93.5 rating. But Trubisky is better known for inconsistency and stupid mistakes at the worst times. Chicago gave up on him after the 2020 season and shipped Trubisky to Buffalo, where he was a backup in 2021.
On the whole, Steeler fans are foaming at the mouth. Trubisky is a non-starter and no-sale in the eyes of the Pittsburgh faithful. And, for that matter, gamblers scoff at the thought of Trubisky leading the Steelers to a championship. As they said about the Lyndon Johnson administration, Pittsburgh has a credibility gap.
Steeler Fans Want a New Pickett Fence
Local hero Kenny Pickett is the man that the Steelers want under center. Pickett burst on the national scene as a superstar quarterback for the University of Pittsburgh in 2021. Last season he was a first-team All-American. Thus, the Steelers are expected to try and trade up for the draft position necessary to acquire Pickett. Certainly, if the Steelers can pull this off, they’ll become an instant favorite with the NFL betting odds. Pickett, like Roethlisberger, could be the Pittsburgh quarterback for two decades.
