Washington Commanders Remain Unpopular on 2024 Future Market

Since 2017, the Washington Commanders have failed to post a winning record. Dan Snyder is gone after selling the team in 2023. Thus, the new ownership group has plenty of goodwill with fans. However, that optimism has not translated to the NFL Betting Odds future market. Washington will need time to end years of mismanagement and futility. Dan Quinn arrives as the new head coach. Previously, Quinn was the defensive coordinator of the Dallas Cowboys. Of course, Quinn was head coach of the Atlanta Falcons when they blew a 28-3 Super Bowl lead to the New England Patriots.

2024 Washington Commanders Preview

Following a seventh-straight non-winning season, the Commanders enter 2024 with a new head coach (Dan Quinn). Also, there is a new general manager (Adam Peters). Additionally, Washington has a new quarterback (No. 2 overall pick Jayden Daniels).

Most important of all, fans point to the vision of the franchise’s new owners. Josh Harris bought the Commanders for a record $6.05 billion in July 2023. In turn, he has methodically set about erasing the stain and stench of the Daniel Snyder era. Snyder’s offshore betting reign of error was vaporized at the end of last season’s 4-13 debacle.

Despite ample cap space, the Commanders took a measured NFL football Betting approach in free agency. Washinton avoided the sort of splashy signings and long-term deals that had hamstrung them in the past. Concurrently, 13 of its 20 acquisitions signed one-year deals. Also, no deal was longer than three years.

And then for the draft, the ultimate evaluation of Peters’ first incoming class for the Commanders will largely hinge on the performance of Daniels. To show, he is an immensely talented playmaker coming off a Heisman Trophy-winning season at LSU. But Peters also found game-changing talent with subsequent picks. He amassed a draft class that drew widespread praise across the industry.

Following so much turmoil and losing in Washington, no one would be foolish enough to call this squad a contender in 2024. Any glimmer of progress would be welcomed by a fan base jaded by years of dysfunction under Snyder.

Still, Commanders fans recall fondly 12 years ago when Robert Griffin III arrived. He was another rookie quarterback and Heisman winner with a similar build and skill set as Daniels. Griffin arrived as the No. 2 overall pick. In turn, he lifted the moribund franchise to a 10-win season,
