NFL Week 18 Means the Last Chance for Playoff Spots

Certainly, the last weekend of the regular season will likely offer some must-win games for teams who must post a victory to gain the playoffs. On the other hand, there will be plenty of NFL odds load management. Cause by teams looking to stay healthy for the 2024 NFL Playoffs. And there will be teams in a hurry to end losing seasons and hit the road for home. Last year, the Buffalo Bills stole the AFC East title from the Miami Dolphins in Week 18 to alter the postseason matchups. Such a scenario is quite possible again in 2024.

Week 18 Overview

Week 18 will have an old-school effect. To show the entire card being played on a Sunday like it used to be. Previously, Monday Night Football was created in 1970 as the American Football League and National Football League merged into one. All games for Week 18 are on a flex schedule. Correlate that starting times and TV coverage will be determined a week or so before the games. Cause of the combination of virtual playoff and preseason games, Week 18 has become the most challenging sports betting handicap.

Once upon a time, the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Redskins (now Commanders) had a bitter NFL betting odds rivalry. Correlate that every game was meaningful and with much on the line. This year, the Cowboys should have the upper hand on Washington, and Heaven help Dallas coach Mike McCarthy if they don’t.

McCarthy faces the demand of producing a Super Bowl season or being fired in favor of Bill Belichick. Consider the Hoodie is waiting in the wings for his good friend Jerry Jones. Also, Dallas QB Dak Prescott, who is in the option year of his contract, is under the gun after terrible playoff performances. Assuming Dallas gains the postseason, their real pressure will still be ahead. Thus, If Dallas is facing a must-win game here against Washington, McCarthy may be as good as fired.

The Denver Broncos host the Kansas City Chiefs in what could end up being a pressure-packed game, at least for Denver. Second-year head coach Sean Payton will spend this season trying to turn rookie first-round draft pick Bo Nix into the next Drew Brees. Payton and Brees combined to give the Saints the best era in franchise history. Including their lone Super Bowl championship.

Kansas City has dominated the Broncos in recent years. But they are known for occasionally letting their guard down in the regular season. Last year, the Chiefs turned it off for much of the year, only to flip the “on” switch for another Super Bowl title.
