Week 1 of 2010 NFL Preseason Betting Favors Home Teams

Now that the Hall of Fame Game is over it is time for Week 1 of 2010 NFL preseason betting and 13 of the 16 home teams are favored.The action begins on Thursday with three games and the home team is favored in each game in NFL preseason lines.

2010 NFL preseason betting favors the Patriots, Ravens and Cowboys on Thursday.  The Patriots are a 1.5 point favorite at home against the defending Super Bowl champion Saints. The Ravens are 3-point home favorites against Carolina in a game that can be seen on ESPN and Dallas is a 4.5 point home choice against the Oakland Raiders.

Friday’s games in NFL preseason lines all favor the home squads. Philadelphia is a 3-point favorite at home against Jacksonville, Washington is a 3-point favorite at home against Buffalo and Atlanta is laying three points at home against Kansas City.

Saturday’s preseason action begins with Miami favored by a field goal at home against Tampa Bay.  The Pittsburgh Steelers are 2.5 point favorites at Detroit. Green Bay is laying 2.5 points at home to Cleveland.  San Diego is a three-point favorite at home against Chicago while Seattle is laying three points at home to Tennessee. The one road team who is favored is the Houston Texans as they are laying one-point at Arizona. One game on Saturday is a pick and that is Minnesota at St. Louis.

Sunday’s action has Cincinnati favored at home against Denver while San Francisco is a three-point road favorite at Indianapolis. Monday’s game on ESPN has the New York Jets favored against the New York Giants at the new Meadowlands Stadium. It is technically a home game for the Jets although both teams call the Meadowlands home.

Normally the home teams in the preseason will be favored by a small margin. That is definitely the case in Week 1 as the only two teams laying more than a field goal played last week. Dallas is laying 4.5 at home to Oakland while Cincinnati is laying 3.5 at home to Denver.  Only two road teams are favored in Week 1 as San Francisco is laying points at Indianapolis while Houston is favored at Arizona.  The game between Minnesota and St. Louis is a pick.
