Buffalo Sabres at Pittsburgh Hockey Betting

Hockey betting has the Pittsburgh Penguins favored on Monday as they host the Buffalo Sabres in a game that can be seen on Versus. It is a possible letdown spot for the Penguins as they played yesterday at home against Detroit in a nationally televised game on NBC.  Those making a hockey bet might give the Sabres a look as big hockey betting underdogs on Monday.

Hockey betting trends do favor the Penguins though as they have won 7 of the last 10 against the Sabres in this series.  The teams have split their two meetings this season both of which were in Buffalo. The Penguins won 2-1 while the Sabres won 4-3.  They met twice last year in Pittsburgh and they split those two games.  Buffalo has actually split the last four meetings against the Penguins overall so there is some reason to give them a chance in this hockey betting matchup.

Buffalo has actually been a very good team to take with a hockey bet this season. They are solid at home and on the road in hockey betting. The Sabres are leading their division but they don’t get a lot of publicity and that makes them a good value for those making a hockey bet.  The Sabres are 14-9-2 this season on the road and that is a money maker in hockey betting. Buffalo is 10th in the league in goals scored and a very impressive 4th in fewest goals allowed.

Pittsburgh has a winning record this season but because they are so popular they actually haven’t made bettors that much money at home.  In fact, the Penguins are a better hockey bet value on the road since the prices are lower. And Pittsburgh actually has more road wins than home wins this season in hockey betting.

Normally when these two teams meet the games go over the total.  Six of the last seven have gone the total.  Pittsburgh is 5th in the NHL on offense and just 20th on defense so it would seem they would go over the total a lot.  It hasn’t happened though as the Penguins have gone under at home and on the road more often than should be expected.

This should be an entertaining game between two of the top teams in the Eastern Conference and it can be seen in the United States on the Versus television network.
