Devils to Escape Hell?

Certainly the New Jersey Devils were one of the biggest NHL betting online disappointments for 2018-19. After making the playoffs the season before, New Jersey flopped and missed out. Taylor Hall went from most valuable player to missing the final four months of the season. But help is on the way. The Devils got the first overall pick in the 2019 draft with center Jack Hughes. Second, defenseman PK Subban arrived in a trade from Nashville. True, Subban’s production dropped last year. However, a change of venue could be the shot in the arm his career needs.

Phil The Thrill to Desert

Last season the Arizona Coyotes showed dramatic improvement. Head coach Rick Tocchet’s team nearly made the playoffs. Accordingly, a lack of goal scoring is what prevented them from making the cut. Phil Kessel’s arrival from Pittsburgh should change that. Kessel remains one of the most gifted goal scorers in the NHL. He is also reputed to be one of the game’s true head cases. But Kessel thrived at Pittsburgh when Tocchet was an assistant there. Hence the belief that the Coyotes coach can get maximum production out of Kessel.

Blues Make it Official

Now St Louis head coach Craig Berube has finally had his “interim” tag removed. “The Chief” got a new three-year deal after leading the Blues to their first ever Stanley Cup title. St. Louis may be an even better team in 2019-20. Yet the perfect storm that led to their sports betting success will be difficult to duplicate.

Matchup to Watch

Certainly New Jersey will be the team to watch in the early going of the 2019-20 season. Hall’s return paired with Subban and Hughes could mean a major resurgence beckon. In this situation the Devils could be the comeback team of the upcoming season.
