Flyers Look for 2-0 Lead in Tuesday Stanley Cup Odds

Stanley Cup odds favor the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday as they look to take a 2-0 lead in the Eastern Conference finals against the Montreal Canadians. The Flyers routed the Canadians in Game 1 in Stanley Cup betting by a score of 6-0 and they are favored to make it two straight on Tuesday night in a game that can be seen on Versus television.

Stanley Cup odds list the Flyers as -155 favorites on Tuesday night.  Philly goaltender Michael Leighton shut out the Canadians in Game 1 and he is a big reason why Philadelphia has gotten this far.  He came off the injury list last Monday and never missed a beat. He filled in when Brian Boucher got injured and has been great ever since.

The Flyers connected on two of their six power play chances in Game 1 so the Canadians are going to have to stay out of the penalty box if they expect to win in Game 2. They are also going to need goaltender Jaroslav Halak to regain his super form.  And the biggest key for Montreal is finding a way to get away from Philadelphia defenseman Chris Pronger. He completely controlled Montreal’s Michael Cammalleri in Game 1.  If the Canadians can’t get Cammalleri loose in this series they are going to lose vs. the Stanley Cup odds. It would help if Andrei Kostitsyn or Tomas Plekanec would take some heat off Cammalleri but it really looks like this series is all about Pronger vs. Montreal’s top scorer.

The Canadians took out Washington and Pittsburgh in the first two rounds so perhaps they had a letdown in Game 1.  The Canadians weren’t expected to win against the Capitals or the Penguins but they were given a reasonable chance to beat the Flyers. Montreal can’t afford anything less than their top effort on Tuesday if they want to get a win to even this series in Stanley Cup odds.

The Flyers are 5-0 in their last 5 overall and as a favorite they are a super 8-1 in their last 9 games. The Flyers are 19-7 in their last 26 games as a home favorite in Stanley Cup betting.

Looking at the total in Stanley Cup betting, the Under is 15-6-2 in the Canadiens last 23 games as a road underdog. On the other side, the Over is 10-2 in the Flyers last 12 Conference Finals games.
