Hockey Betting – Bruins Win High Scoring Game vs. Lightning. The highest scoring game of the 2011 NHL playoffs took place on Tuesday night as the Boston Bruins won in hockey betting as they defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning 6-5.The Bruins evened the best-of-seven Eastern Conference finals at a game each as the series heads to Tampa Bay for the next two games. The Lightning is favored in NHL hockey betting at the Sbg sportsbook on Thursday night in Game 3.
Rookie Leads the Charge
The biggest reason that the Boston Bruins won on Tuesday night in NHL hockey betting was rookie Tyler Seguin who had two goals and two assists. The Bruins didn’t play Seguin in their first 11 playoff games but with the injury to Patrice Bergeron the Bruins have put him in the lineup the past two games. Now it looks like Seguin will be a fixture in the Bruins lineup for years to come. Seguin was the #2 pick in last year’s draft and he has given Boston life on offense. He had a goal and an assist in Game 1 that the Bruins lost 5-2 and he was the star of Game 2 with two goals and two assists. Boston forward Brad Marchand said that Seguin was the reason that Boston won Game 2. Seguin tied the game at two in the second period and made it 4-2 about six minutes later. He also set up two goals by Michael Ryder.
Goalies under Attack
Both Tampa Bay goaltenders Dwayne Roloson and Boston’s Tim Thomas were under attack in Game 2. The Lightning pulled Roloson after the second period when they trailed 6-3 while the Bruins stuck with Thomas. In the first two playoff series, Thomas allowed a total of 24 goals. He has now given up nine in the first two games of this series. Roloson had allowed just 25 goals in Tampa Bay’s first 12 playoff games but he allowed six goals in Game 2 although many of the shots he had very little chance to stop.
The Lightning lost for the first time in this year’s playoffs after scoring the first goal. Tampa Bay is a -135 favorite in hockey betting in Game 3 on Thursday night. The total on the game is listed at 5.5. It will be interesting to see if gamblers take the over based on the 11 goals that were scored in Game 2.
