The best team to wager on in hockey betting lately has been the Phoenix Coyotes. They are the league’s hottest team in NHL hockey betting having won seven in a row. That winning streak has propelled them into first place in the Pacific Division.
Seven in a Row
The Coyotes have won seven straight including a 5-0 whitewashing of the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday night. Goaltender Ilya Brzgalov made 23 saves for his 17th career NHL shutout while Martin Hanzal and Lee Stempniak each scored twice. Head coach Dave Tippett is pleased with the winning streak but he realizes that the season is just past the quarter pole. Phoenix did start the season slowly but they are now looking like the team that won 50 games a year ago.
Phoenix Numbers
The Coyotes are up to 11th in the league in goals per game at 2.9. They are still just average on the power play though at 14th in the league. They sure do win face offs though as they are third best in the NHL and when you win face offs you get a lot more offensive chances. The defense is improving but still needs some work. Phoenix is 16th in the league in goals against. They give up too many shots as they are 27th in the league and their penalty killing is below average. They are getting better though and Brzgalov is an excellent goaltender who can make up for defensive lapses.
Streak May Continue
If you are one of those gamblers that likes streaks then you may want to ride the Coyotes a while longer. They are home against Anaheim on Saturday and that is a very winnable game. Phoenix does go on the road next week for two games but the Coyotes have been excellent on the road this season. The two games next week at Nashville and Minnesota are definitely winnable. They then come home for a game against Florida which they should win before going to Anaheim in another game they will have a chance to win. The Coyotes are hot right now in hockey betting and looking at the schedule there is no reason they can’t keep it going against the NHL hockey betting odds at the Sbg global sportsbook.
