Hockey Betting – Western Conference Semifinals Set.The semifinals are set in the Western Conference with the San Jose Sharks playing the Detroit Red Wings while the Vancouver Canucks will match up in hockey betting against the Nashville Predators. The Canucks are solid favorites in NHL hockey betting in their series against Nashville while the Sharks are slight favorites against Detroit in the other series.
Canucks vs. Predators
Vancouver is the top seed in the Western Conference but they really didn’t look that great against Chicago in the last round as the series went seven games. Nashville played well and defeated Anaheim 4-2 in their series. The Canucks and Predators split their four regular season meetings in NHL hockey betting this season. All four games were low scoring. The Canucks won 2-1 at home in the first meeting while Nashville won 3-1 at home in the second. The other two games were wins by the road team as Nashville won 3-0 at Vancouver while the Canucks won 3-1 in Nashville. The teams also split their four meetings last year with two of the four games going under the total. The goaltending matchup has been Pekka Rinne vs. Roberto Luongo in each of the last six meetings between the two teams.
Sharks vs. Red Wings
These two teams were separated by just one point in the final standings and the hockey betting odds on this series are really tight. San Jose is a slight favorite at Sbgglobal but only because they have the home ice advantage. Last season the Sharks beat the Red Wings in five games in the conference semifinals. This year in the regular season the Sharks won three of four games against Detroit. The Red Wings won the first contest 5-3 at San Jose in late November but about a week later it was the Sharks returning the favor as they won 5-2 in Detroit.
The Sharks won 4-3 at Detroit in the third meeting while the Sharks took the regular season finale 3-1 at home. The Sharks scored 15 goals in the four games led by Dany Heatley who scored four. Ryan Clowe, Devin Setoguchi, Logan Couture and Joe Thornton each had two goals in the season series. Detroit was led by Danny Cleary and Henrik Zetterberg who each had three goals in the series while Tomas Holmstrom had two.
