NHL Betting Online – Chicago at Montreal

Two teams battling for a playoff spot meet in Montreal in Tuesday NHL betting online as the Canadians host the Chicago Blackhawks.  Both Montreal and Chicago control their own destiny in making the playoffs so this one should be intense.  The Canadians are a slight favorite in NHL betting at SBG simply because they are the home team.

Blackhawks Play Four Games this Week
Chicago’s advantage over the other teams they are fighting for a playoff spot is the number of games they have left. Chicago plays four games this week while Calgary has just two left. Dallas has four games this week as well.  Chicago didn’t help their cause on Sunday as they lost 2-0 at home to Tampa Bay.  Chicago couldn’t get anything past Tampa Bay backup goalie Mike Smith.  It was the seventh time in the last eight games the Blackhawks have gone under in NHL betting. Chicago has been shutout in three of their last eight games which is surprising considering they are third in the league in goals per game.

Chicago Solid on the Road
The Blackhawks can’t be too upset about going on the road since they have 19 wins away from home.  Chicago has this game on Tuesday at Montreal and a road game at Detroit. The Blackhawks also host the Red Wings and Blues before the week is out.

Canadians Close to Clinching
The Canadians are almost in the playoffs but not quite. They could clinch on Tuesday if they get a win or if Carolina loses.  Montreal and Carolina both have three games left and the Canadians led the Hurricanes by four points.  Buffalo and the New York Rangers are also fighting to stay ahead of Carolina.  Montreal is coming off a 3-1 at New Jersey on Saturday. Montreal continues to go under the NHL betting online total.

Game Numbers
This is the only meeting between Chicago and Montreal this season. The Canadians have won five of the last seven against the Blackhawks and the last four at home. The Blackhawks are 4-1 in NHL betting in their last 5 vs. the Northeast. The Canadiens are 0-5 in their last 5 vs. the Central.  Seven of the last eight Chicago games have gone under the total. The Under is 4-0 in the Canadiens last 4 home games.
