Two teams going in opposite directions meet in NHL wagering online on Wednesday as the Buffalo Sabres host the Boston Bruins. Not much has gone right this season for the Sabres while the Bruins have done very little wrong. This is a huge game for the Sabres but it is tough to make an NHL bet on them right now.
Buffalo Winless at Home
This is shocking to say but the Buffalo Sabres have not yet won a game at home this season. This is a Buffalo team that won the Northeast Division last season. The Sabres lost in the playoffs last year to the Bruins but it was still expected that Buffalo would be good this season. So far that has not been the case. Last year’s Calder Trophy winner, defenseman Tyler Myers was minus-10 during the month of October which was the second worst in the entire NHL. The Sabres lost the last three games of their four-game road trip and were not competitive on Saturday in a 4-0 loss at Dallas. And the bad news continues for Buffalo as starting goaltender Ryan Miller is likely out for this game which means backup Patrick Lalime will get the start.
Red-Hot Thomas
There is not a goalie in the NHL who is hotter than Boston’s Tim Thomas.
He won the Vezina Trophy in 2008-09 as the league’s top goaltender and so far this season he has looked like the goalie that won that award two years ago. He has won six straight games to start the season and has not allowed more than one goal in any game. He has stopped 182 of 185 shots and has 0.50 goals against average which is simply incredible. He already has three shutouts this season. He has lost his last five starts against Buffalo but the way he is playing you have to think that streak will end.
