Certainly, the Vegas Golden Knights deserve credit for being the most interesting show in the NHL. In 2021-22 Vegas missed the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the first time in their five-year NHL betting history. As a result, head coach Pete DeBoer was fired. DeBoer’s team was among the most injury-ravaged in the NHL. But that did not matter to the Vegas management. VGK bosses felt a “new voice” was needed. Specifically, that new voice is Bruce Cassidy. Cassidy arrives from the Boston Bruins, where he was fired last summer. Cause by the Bruins saying they needed a “new voice.”

Vegas Golden Knights – Making Quick History
Born in 2017 as an expansion team, the Vegas Golden Knights immediately made history. Correlate, they made the 2018 Stanley Cup Final. No first-year expansion team in North American major league history had ever accomplished such a feat since the 1968 St. Louis Blues. And the Blues had the advantage of playing in a division comprised of fellow expansion teams.
The Golden Knights have sold out almost every game they have ever played at T-Mobile Arena. In like manner, visiting teams and media members rave about the incredible atmosphere in Sin City.
Naturally, Vegas does everything in a first-class manner. Its broadcasting team is of network-level quality. Its team on the ice is a perennial Stanley Cup contender. And its management is openly doing everything in its power to win the Stanley Cup.
SBG Odds Overview – 2022 Vegas Golden Knights
Last year the Vegas Golden Knights finished with a sportsbook record of 43-31-8 to finish 4th in the Pacific Division. The Golden Knights missed the playoffs for the first time in their history.
And then, on August 11, 2022, Vegas announced that goaltender Robin Lehner was likely to miss the season with an injury. Following a trade of Max Pacioretty to the Carolina Hurricanes for no return.
Owner Bill Foley deserves credit for demanding that his franchise win the Stanley Cup. Foley will spend and do whatever it takes. But Foley’s management team has felt that pressure. And has not always handled it well. Also, they ignored the real salary cap issues that Vegas has had to deal with. All of this has served to frustrate fans and gamblers.
Goaltender Marc Andre Fleury was the most popular player on the team. But he was traded to clear cap space after the 2020-21 season when it looked as if Robin Lehner was ready to take over the net. But Lehner has suffered from numerous issues and injuries and proved unable to stay in the lineup. Now Lehner is out and unlikely to ever play in Vegas again.
Fans were angry about Fleury’s departure and the reasons behind it. Now the Lehner injury pours gas on that NHL betting fire. Pacioretty was also popular and productive, though missing half of last season with an injury. Fleury and Pacioretty were sent away for almost nothing in return. And fans have taken notice.
Namely, George McPhee is the president of the hockey operation. McPhee hired Kelly McCrimmon as general manager after two years in that role. McPhee and McCrimmon are facing more scrutiny and skepticism. In turn, their seats are the hottest in hockey.
