Another week goes by in February 2016 and we have another PGA Tournament upon us with the 2016 Northern Trust Open that is played from the 18th thru the 21st of February 2016 with the tournament played at the Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, California.
This should be an interesting golf match with 3 mainstays in the limelight in B. Watson, J. Speith and R. Mcilroy, and the No. 1 ranked Speith this past week at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am was not up to par in his game, but will be seeking his 2nd win this season at this Riviera Club event. But the golf analysts and experts are not so sure Speith, Watson or Mcilroy will win this event.
So we take a look at 3 golf internet experts and their picks to win the 2016 Northern Trust Open at Pacific Palisades, California. We start with S. Belden a writer for Pro Golf who writes everything about Golf has predicted H. Matsuyama to win this event. Matsuyama is a pro golfer from Japan who won the 2010 and 2011 Asian Amateur Title, and has won 2 events on the PGA tour, and for the Japan Golf Tour he is a 6 time winner in those events.
He claims the amazing Japanese golfer lately has been very consistent finishing in the top 25 on 6 occasions his ultimate 11 events and that included finish in the top 10 on 4 occasions. Remember, he had his 1st win in 2016 in January at the Waste Management Open in Phoenix.
Then there is R. Chambers of Sports Chat who also predicts the winner to be H. Matsuyama at 23 years of age who he thinks has the statistics to support his selection, 1st being that he is a 6 time winner of the Japan Tour, and that presently he is ranked 2nd in tee to the green strokes gained, and on birdie average ranks 4th and scoring average ranks 6th. Plus, remember at this event last season he finished in the 4th spot, and in West Coast USA tournaments he has played exceptionally well, and a win here will certainly gain him the title of the 2016 hot young player of 2016.
Then we have T. Klongerbo of U.S. TV Golf writer whom last week predicted K. Na the Korean American golfer would in at Pebble Beach, but his pick did not make the final round, so now his choice is L. Donald the English pro golfer over the big names in Speith, Garcia and Mcilroy. The reason he made this pick he said, was he noticed some things about Donald after his performance at Pebble Beach last week, as the 38 year old English Golfer’s game significantly showed improvement, especially of the driving off the tees and the putting on the greens. But in the end he admitted that his pick was derived more from his personal hunch than anything else.
But in this game of golf, anything can happen as seen in the win by unexpected V. Taylor 39 year old American took the limelight winning the Pebble Beach Pro-Am, so a win for Donald could be in the wind?
