Masters Has Compelling Long Shots with the Golf Betting Lines

Fashion that when it comes to the Masters’ Tournament, there are no real longshots with the Golf betting lines. Last year when Hideki Matsuyama won the Green Jacket, it was a reminder that there are no locks. Nor pure longshots. And that leads to this week’s 2022 Masters Tournament. Some world-class players may be considered in the longshot class. Or at least afterthoughts in the minds of the betting masses. First on the Official World Golf Ranking is Scottie Scheffler. Yet he is not a top favorite to win the Green Jacket.

2022 Masters Tournament Longshots

Scottie Scheffler +1600

Last week Scottie Scheffler took over the top spot on the Official World Golf Ranking. He was coming off an offshore betting win at the WGC Dell Technologies Match Play. Concurrently, Scheffler has the hottest stroke in golf. He has three wins in his last five outings, and a 7th place finish. Those other two wins were at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and the WM Phoenix Open.

Despite that success, Scheffler faces his share of critics and doubters. He has never won a major tournament. And his best finish at the Masters’ Tournament was 18th in 2021. But there is a sense that Scheffler, age 25, is ready to take the next step into prominence.

Rory McIlroy +1800

Once upon a time, Rory McIlroy set on top of the world. Or the Official World Golf Ranking, that is. Ten years ago, McIlroy was first on the OWGR. Additionally, he has a host of awards and accomplishments. Including his 3-time PGA Tour Player of the Year status. McIlroy has four major championships. But he has never won the Masters Tournament. His best finish at Augusta was 4th in 2015.

Late on, McIlroy has been inconsistent. He finished 33rd at THE PLAYERS Championship in his most recent event. But McIlroy was the winner of THE CJ CUP @ SUMMIT. And he finished 4th at the BMW Championship and the Olympics. McIlroy is the ultimate wild card. Most important of all is that he desperately wants a Green Jacket.

Brooks Koepka +1800

Overall, Brooks Koepka’s best finish at the Masters’ Tournament was 2nd in 2019. He is coming off a 5th place finish at the WGC Dell Technologies Match Play.

Viktor Hovland +1800

In sum, Viktor Hovland is 4th on the OWGR. Since late last year, he has had three wins. However, Hovland has struggled with the Golf Betting Lines at the Masters, with a best finish of 21st in 2021.
