Pelicans of New Orleans vs. Spurs of San Antonio Preview

With the 2015-16 NBA Regular Season winding down there are some interesting games happening, like tonight we have 2 teams in the Pelicans of New Orleans taking on the Spurs of San Antonio with the game being played at the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas with the tip off at 8:40 PM ET.

The Spurs have managed to be superior at home and secure 2nd place in the highly contested Conference of the West, while the Pelicans have struggled and are now officially eliminated from the playoffs and still have some 9 remaining games to complete their 2015-16 regular season.

What the fans are asking, is can the Spurs win this game tonight and remain undefeated at home, or is it possible that the Pelicans could beat the Spurs for an unexpected upset tonight.

For those that may Bet on NBA the Vegas odds have the Spurs strong favorites at -19 with the Over/under at 198 and -10,000 on the Money Line, while the Pelicans are at +19 and +4,000 on the Money Line.

For the fans of the 27-46 Pelicans of New Orleans you must be pleased that J. Holiday came back from a foot injury to score 10 points in the 4th quarter of his total for the game of 22 as on Monday night they beat the Knicks of New York 99-91. That win took the Pelicans of a 3 game loss streak and gave the team a moral bust after that win.

However, the fans need to know that things may become tougher as tonight they take on the hot Spurs of San Antonio, whom are 5 time champs are having their best season at home, being undefeated at 37-0 and their last loss at home was back in March of 2015.  That added to the fact that the Spurs have the best defense in the league allowing opponents to a measly 92.5 point each game to date.

If the Pelicans have any chance to win tonight and create an upset, they will need to step up their shooting from the outsice. That’s because in their 2 losses to the Spurs they only manages completeing 11 of 44 attempts from downtown. Plus, they need to defensively figure out how to halt K. Leonard who to date is averaging 50.8% shooting averaging 21 points, with 6.9 rebounds and 1.9 steals in each game this season.

Another big factor for the Pelicans is that presently they have several key players who are out due to injuries and will not be on hand for the game tonight against the Spurs. In their ultimate 10 games on the road the Pelicans are 2-8 straight up.

If you are a fan of the 62-12 Spurs of San Antonio your team came back to their win column with a 101-87 win over the Grizzlies of Memphis this past Monday night. They had 4 players in double-figures after they came of a sickening loss to the Thunder 111-92. However, with that Monday win the Spurs are now only 4.5 games behind the Warriors of Golden State for the 1st place ranking in the Conference of the West.

Their star for that game was L. Aldridge who had 13 rebounds and some 31 points, completing 11 of 16 from the court and 9 of 11 from the foul line. In the last 2 games he has averaged some 31.6 points. Thus, he will be seeking another game with a solid performance tonight. That could be made easy since in his games this season against the Pelicans he has averaged some 8.4 rebounds and 27.4 points in those 3 games this season, and in the last of the 3 games he had an amazing 36 points back in February. In their ultimate 10 games at home the Spurs are 9 and 1 straight up.

In this Western Conference match-up tonight the prediction is that the Spurs of San Antonio will beat the Pelicans of New Orleans with ease at home 107-85 and remain undefeated this season on their home court.
