Bookmaker – Slumping Spartans Suspend Key Player. Michigan State has fallen out of the Top 25 and they are no longer a team you can trust against the college basketball odds at the bookmaker. It may not get any better against the Internet bookmaker odds because starting guard Korie Lucious was suspended from the team for the rest of the season.
Michigan State in Trouble
The Spartans are very well coached by Tom Izzo but they are not going to overcome the loss of Lucious. He is a key player who helped the Spartans reach the Final Four in the last two seasons. Lucious was suspended for conduct detrimental to the program. The school didn’t release any other details surrounding the suspension. Lucious was injured earlier this season but he was still averaging 6.5 points in 18 games this season. The Spartans began the season ranked #2 in the country but they are now unranked and already have seven losses on the season.
Continued Problems for Lucious
The latest issue regarding Lucious is not the first one. Last season he was suspended for a game for missing class. This year he pleaded guilty in September to misdemeanor reckless driving and was suspended for the season opener. His chances have now run out and he will not play again for Michigan State. Lucious is a junior and has a year left of eligibility but he won’t be coming back to the Spartans. The latest information indicates that he will transfer.
Spartans and Lucious Have Struggled
It has been a tough season for Lucious and the Spartans. Last year it was Lucious who was the hero for the Spartans when he hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to beat Maryland in the second round. This year Lucious has not played well and his shot has gone south. He was shooting just 21.8 percent in the last ten games. He was a key player though and earlier this week Izzo said that the Spartans needed Lucious to shoot well if they were to turn their season around. We know that is not going to happen now.
Upcoming Schedule
Michigan State is favored at the bookmaker on Thursday as they host Michigan. They should win that game and also Sunday’s game at home against Indiana. Next week in college hoops odds at SBG they could win at Iowa but they are unlikely to win at Wisconsin.
