The New Jersey Devils have been a major disaster this season against the NHL odds at the bookmaker and things may not get much better. The Devils have lost leading scorer Zach Parise for the next three months with a knee injury. The Devils were already in serious trouble this season and without Parise they are simply not a team you can take right now against the odds at the Internet bookmaker.
Parise had surgery on his right knee to repair a torn meniscus. The Devils got a bit of good news since the meniscus was intact but Parise is still going to be out for a few months. It is a bad time for Parise to get hurt since he is a restricted free agent after this season. General manager Lou Lamoriello said that the injury will not be a factor in re-signing Parise. In the past four years Parise had 31, 32, 45 and 38 goals.
Worst Start in 27 Years
The Devils are 3-9-1 against the odds at the bookmaker and that is their worst start in 27 years. They are in serious trouble already this season. The Devils have made the playoffs the past 13 years but they have their work cut out for them without their top scorer. The Devils spent a ton of money in the off-season when they signed Ilya Kovalchuk. That move has not looked good either as Kovalchuk has done very little this season. New Jersey has also had some other injury concerns with Brian Rolston, Mark Fraser, Matt Corrente and Jacob Josefson missing time.
Rookie Coach
The Devils have a rookie coach in John MacLean and he is already on thin ice. When a team has made the playoffs for 13 straight seasons, losing does not go over well.
No Offense and an Old Goalie
The Devils can’t score. They are dead last in the league in goals per game at a pathetic 1.5. They are getting nothing on a nightly basis. They are rotten on defense as well as they rank 25th in the league. Goaltender Martin Brodeur is a future Hall of Fame inductee. His career has been brilliant but he has seen his best days. He is not going to carry a team any more. With no scoring and an old goalie, the future is not bright for the Devils and they are not a team you want to bet at Sbg global.
