The bookmaker noted yet another trade by the Miami Dolphins. Just a couple days after getting Brandon Marshall the Dolphins traded Ted Ginn Jr. to San Francisco. Ginn was a huge bust in Miami and his trade will not affect offshore betting odds.
Bookmaker odds on Miami have dropped in recent days as the Dolphins added Marshall. He is an impact player who can make a big difference for Miami. Getting rid of Ginn was also a big positive for Miami. He is one of the bigger draft busts in recent memory. The Dolphins got a fifth round draft pick from San Francisco for Ginn and that may also be a bargain. Ginn was the ninth overall pick in the 2007 NFL Draft and did very little in three seasons with Miami.
He had only five TD catches for Miami and averaged just 13 yards per catch. His only real talent was on special teams as he did return kicks effectively. Miami would not have kept Ginn around for the money he was making. He would not have been in the wide receiver rotation. The Dolphins have Marshall as the top receiver and he is supported by Brian Hartline, Davone Bess and Greg Camarillo.
San Francisco will try and get something out of Ginn but it is unlikely he will impact offshore betting odds. They may pair him with Michael Crabtree but they will probably find out Ginn is a special team’s player at best. The bookmaker noted that Ginn lost his starting receiver job last year with Miami as he had just 38 catches for 454 yards and one TD.
San Francisco is trying to put a positive spin on the addition of Ginn. “We are very excited to add a player to our team with the explosiveness that Ted possesses,” said director of player personnel Trent Baalke. “Ted gives our coaching staff another quality player to utilize on game day.” Head coach Mike Singletary was also pleased with the addition of Ginn. “First of all, I am very thankful that Trent was able to make this work out,” said head coach Mike Singletary. “We added a talented player that fit a need. He’s a bundle of potential and his upside is off the charts. This guy can fly.”
The bookmaker noted that Ginn has 128 catches in his career for 1,664 yards with five touchdowns. He has 16 carries for 124 yards with two scores. He averaged 8.7 yards per punt return and had a TD in his career. The bookmaker noted that on kickoffs he averaged just 23 yards per return but did have two touchdowns.
