Vince Young’s Troubles Shouldn’t Affect Titans Bookmaker Odds. The NFL odds at the bookmaker are not likely to be affected by the latest troubles that Tennessee Titans quarterback Vince Young got himself into. He was given a Class C assault citation after getting into an incident at a strip club in the Dallas area on Sunday morning. The Titans are not considered one of the favorites at the online bookmaker to win the Super Bowl this season but they are a long shot contender.
Bookmaker odds list Tennessee well behind the favorites in the AFC but it should be noted that the Titans were 13-3 just two years ago. The Titans turned the starting quarterback job over to Young and he played well in place of Kerry Collins. Young has had his issues on and off the field so this does not help his status in the Tennessee locker room. Reports about the incident seem to indicate that Young will not get suspended for his actions by the NFL.
Two years ago, Young was a mess off the field as he was dealing with injuries and other problems. He was able to get his life in order and last year it paid off as he played well in relief of Collins. After the Titans started 0-6, owner Bud Adams decided that Young needed to start at quarterback in place of Kerry Collins and the Titans won eight of their last 10 games. Young is 26-13 in his NFL career as a starting quarterback.
Tennessee was 8-8 last season but they went just 6-10 vs. the NFL odds at the bookmaker. Young threw for 1,879 yards while the Titans were led last season by running back Chris Johnson who had over 2,000 yards rushing. Young played well down the stretch but whether or not he can continue that strong play is a big question for Tennessee entering this NFL season. The latest incident definitely does not inspire a lot of confidence in Young as the starting quarterback. Tennessee opens up their 2010 regular season as they host the Oakland Raiders on Sunday, September 12th. The Titans are solid favorites in their home opener as the NFL odds at the online bookmaker have them laying seven points with the total on the game being 41.
