Prescott and Cowboys Becoming Football Betting Favorites

Dak Prescott’s performance this past weekend against the Chicago Bears has won him the hearts of Cowboys’ nation. After Prescott completed 19/24 passes for 248 yards, 1 touchdown, and a 123.6 passer rating, it’s hard not to jump on the rookie’s bandwagon. In fact, Prescott has been so impressive that online football betting fans that favor the Cowboys’ might not want Romo to return once he’s fully healed.

Prescott has already thrown for 767 yards and is averaging a 93.3 passer rating. Romo’s career average passer rating is 97.1, but Romo’s career is also riddled with inopportune interceptions. Unlike his veteran counterpart, Prescott has yet to turn the ball over this season. Only 3 quarterbacks have 0 interceptions and more than 90 pass attempts this season; Phillip Rivers, Carson Wentz, and Dak Prescott. Rivers is a veteran known for his passing ability, but seeing two rookies leading the league is mind-blowing, especially when considering they both hail from the same division.

With that in mind it’s clear the NFC East might be the most competitive division in the NFL this year. The Eagles are currently atop the division, but Prescott and the Cowboys will be looking to take the East out from under them. The best way to do that is by winning over their Week 4 opponent, the San Francisco 49ers. What do most football betting sites have to say about the Prescott-led Cowboys chances this upcoming Sunday?

Week 4 – Sunday the 2nd of October

Cowboys -3 (-110) 46 (-110)
49ers +3 (-110) 46 (-110)

As one would expect the Cowboys are coming into this contest as the favorites. Behind what many consider to be the best offensive line in the NFL, Dallas’ offense is averaging 385 yards per contest, which ranks them as the 8th best offense in the league. Prescott is completing 66.7 percent of his passes, and is averaging 7.7 yards per game. It’s appalling to see a rookie come in and put up those kind of numbers, and the best part of Prescott is that he keeps improving each week.

In Week 1 Dallas faced the Giants and Prescott finished with an unimpressive 69.4 passer rating, but the following week the rookie bounced back in a win against the Redskins and finished the day with 103.8. Now that Prescott put up even better numbers in the Cowboys’ win over the Bears, the online football betting community is starting to take Dallas as serious contenders in the NFC East.

Unfortunately for the 49ers, the same cannot be said about them in the NFC West. San Francisco opened the 2016 with a 28-0 win over the Rams at home, but since then they’ve lost two games on the road. In Week 2 the Niners faced Carolina but were unable to hold their own as the Panthers pummeled San Francisco 46-27. This past weekend San Francisco had a chance to take the lead in the West by beating Seattle, but just like the Panthers, the Seahawks offense proved too explosive for San Fran.

With the way Prescott has been playing these last two weeks, it’s very likely that Dallas’ offense will prove the same. The Niners defense ranks 20th in the league, and with the Cowboys’ offense ranking in the Top 10, Dallas seems like an easy online football betting pick over San Francisco.
