Online Gambling – Cam Newton Easily Wins Heisman

December 18th, 2020 Online Gambling

There was not much online gambling suspense on Saturday as Auburn quarterback Cameron Newton easily won the Heisman Trophy.  There has been little doubt for a while that Newton would win the Heisman so it was no surprise to gamblers at Internet gambling companies when Newton was a runaway winner.

Landslide Victory
Newton won the Heisman going away.  He received 729 first-place votes and defeated runner-up Andrew Luck of Stanford by a total of 1,184 points.  Oregon running back LaMichael James finished third in the voting while Boise State’s Kellen Moore was fourth.  Newton might have won in record fashion if not for the controversy surrounding his father and the pay-for-play scandal. A total of 105 voters left him out of the top three on their ballots. Newton received the sixth most first-place votes in history and the third highest percentage of first-place votes. Newton had 1,409 yards rushing with 21 touchdowns, and 2,589 yards passing and 28 TD passes. He was responsible for 294 total points this season. He threw 15 touchdown passes and only one interception in the final five games.

Auburn Favored vs. Oregon
Newton won the Heisman and his Tigers are favored in online gambling at Internet gambling companies against Oregon in the BCS national championship game next month.  History might be against Auburn though since Heisman winners don’t always do well in bowl games especially if they are facing a player who finished second.  LaMichael James of Oregon had a great season and his Ducks could have something to prove in the title game against Newton and Auburn.  Oregon is a three-point underdog at the Sbg sportsbook.

2010 Heisman Trophy Voting
Cam Newton 2,263 points, 729 first place votes
Andrew Luck 1,079 points, 78 first place votes
LaMichael James 916 points, 22 first place votes
Kellen Moore 635 points, 40 first place votes

Will Newton Keep the Heisman?
Newton has the Heisman right now but whether he has it a few years from now is in question. The NCAA cleared him to play but they are still investigating and they are not alone.  The FBI and the Mississippi secretary of state’s office are also investigating the pay-for-play scandal.  Reggie Bush lost his Heisman and it is possible that Newton will lose his down the road.
