Online Wagering Spotlight: The #1 Auburn and #2 Oregon Locked-In On National Title. The New Orleans Hornets were the last team to fall but fall they did against the Dallas Mavericks in their recent NBA online wagering match up. Fortunately for football fans, the beleaguered BCS finally got it right and Auburn and Oregon both proved they belonged in the national title game by winning out. With two perfect records (Auburn 13-0, Oregon 12-0) at stake this year’s title game should be a memorable one.
With no common opponent between these two teams coming from very parts of the country and two very different conferences this is going to a wild game to handicap. The online wagering companies begin listing odds for this game with Oregon as a 3-point favorite but the online wagering odds quickly flattened out.
The Ducks have been #1 in the polls for months and run a high offense that is simply breathtaking. The team averages more than a point a minute (49 points per game) and 537.5 yards per game. There is simply no equivalent to this team anywhere in the country and especially not in the SEC. It’s safe to say that Auburn hasn’t ever seen an offense quite they’ll see in January in the BCS title tame.
But then again it’s safe to say that the Ducks have never seen a player like Auburn QB (and lock to win the Heisman Trophy) Cameron Newton. Newton is the best player in the country by a very wide margin. He single-handedly got this team to the title game and put together one of the most impressive individual seasons by any player in college football history.
In last weekend’s SEC title game against South Carolina Newton became just the second player to pass for 20+ TDs and run for 20+ TDs in the same season. It’s simply impossible to game plan for a player with his unique talents and the bigger the stage the bigger he’s played so far this season (6 TDs in SEC Championship).
But even if Newton continues his rampage against opposing defenses the Tigers D will have an impossible mission trying to stop the Ducks running game and Heisman hopeful RB LaMichael James. James is nation’s leading rusher and every time he has the ball in his hands he’s capable of breaking off a big gain.
This year’s title game should feature plenty of offense and plenty of excitement as these are the two best teams in the country and feature the two best offensive players in the land as well.
