Online Wagering College Football Action BCS Ranking Update

December 13th, 2021 Online Wagering

Just about every week that goes by we some sort of shuffle at the top of the online wagering college football rankings and this week was no different. To make matters even more diluted we currently have different teams ranked #1 depending on which poll you use.

According to the human voters the University of Oregon Ducks is the top team in the land receiving 44 first-place votes in the AP Poll and receiving 50 votes in the USA Today Poll.  Boise State is the #2 team in both of those polls receiving a combined 16 fist place votes.  Auburn, the #3 team in both of the polls and the only other team to receive first-place votes (6 total) round out the top three.

But according to the robots and computers and whatever other machines they use to establish the BCS rankings Auburn is the #1 team in the country.  Oregon is #2 in the BSC online betting rankings and Boise State is #3.

There would seem to be little argument than one of these three teams is the best in the land but it’s hard to say which one as these teams don’t face one another during the football season and would have to meet in a BCS bowl game to settle the question once and for all on the turf.

But the chances of seeing two of these teams listed on an online wagering odds site as opponents in a major bowl probably isn’t all that likely.  Especially in the case of Boise State, a team that will almost certainly go undefeated and still not be invited to play in eth national title game.  It might also be a tough sale pitting Auburn against Oregon in the BCS title game should both of them win out, which at this point is s big ‘if’.

Generally the committee that organizes the matchups that appear on the online wagering companies’ sites tends to favor larger, more established programs.  Teams like Alabama #7, Oklahoma #9, Wisconsin #11 and Ohio State #12 are more attractive prospects for a title game based on these programs large national following.

But with non-traditional teams like TCU (#4) and Utah (#10) also undefeated and ranked in the top ten, the Bowl selection committees are going to have their hands full this year.
