The Minnesota Timberwolves made a good move on Monday that could help their chances vs. the online wagering NBA odds. The team signed free-agent forward Anthony Tolliver to a two-year deal worth a reported $4.5 million. Tolliver may not have the high profile of some other NBA players but he put up solid numbers last year for Golden State and gamblers making an online wager know that he can play.
Online wagering odds on the Timberwolves are going to be interesting to watch in 2010-2011 as the team looks far different than it did last season. Getting Tolliver is a big move as he averaged 12.3 points and 7.3 rebounds in 44 games for the Warriors last season.
Minnesota made so many moves in the off-season that you will need to take a new look at the team when you make an online wager. The two biggest additions are Michael Beasley and Darko Milicic. You can make a case that both were risky moves but at least with Beasley they got a proven NBA player. They traded two second round picks for Beasley which looks like a great move. He will contribute on a nightly basis and he may lead the team in scoring this season. The Timberwolves took a huge risk and signed Milicic to a four-year $20 million dollar contract. He has really done nothing in the NBA to impact online wagering odds but Minnesota is going to throw money at him and hope he can play.
Gamblers who make an online wager will remember that Minnesota took Wesley Johnson with the fourth overall pick in the NBA Draft and he gives them some solid outside shooting. They got Martell Webster from Portland in exchange for the 16th overall pick Luke Babbit and Ryan Gomes. Webster and Johnson play the same position so it will be interesting to see how that works out. Minnesota took Lazar Hayward with the 30th overall pick. He could be an interesting player off the bench for Minnesota.
The Timberwolves also signed Nikola Pekovic to a three-year deal for $15 million. He is capable of being a major surprise in the NBA next season. Scouts said that he would have been in the Top 10 of last year’s NBA Draft. European players come with question marks but when you are as bad as Minnesota has been vs. online wagering odds, a flyer on Pekovic may not be a bad move.
