Online Wagering on Women’s Sports Expanding Rapidly

December 7th, 2021 Online Wagering

When some people think of online wagering on sporting events they think of men’s sports. The NBA, MLB, NFL and other professional sporting league’s for men always seem to dominate the wagering action.  But that may not be the case for long as professional women’s sports are growing at a furious rate and soon they might even be on par with their male counterparts when it comes to sports betting online.

In the past there simply wasn’t any sports betting odds on women’s sports.  In fact, until recently there really weren’t any professional women’s sports teams or leagues at all.  But over the past few decades there has been a big push in sports wagering to include more women’s sports.  And with the development of more and more professional women’s sporting leagues there are more and more online wagering options every day.

Perhaps the most well-known and successful professional women’s sporting league anywhere in sports betting is the WNBA.  Any sports betting fan that made an online wager on women’s sports has most likely played the WNBA odds.  The WNBA has been around for nearly two decades and has grown exponentially on the floor and in the online wagering as well.

This all women’s league has terrific marketing partnership with its male counterpart, the NBA, and has a draft system that feeds off the wildly popular NCAA women’s basketball betting scene.  Compensation is very high, relative to other women’s sports in the online wagering action, and the future looks bright for continued growth in this sport.

But the WNBA is hardly the only women’s sport around.   Tennis is also among the most popular online wagering categories for women’s sports with the arguably two of the most well-known women athletes in sports betting: Venus and Serena Williams.

The LPGA is also an online wagering favorite for many sports betting fans and there is continual talk of reintroducing a professional women’s soccer league in the US.  All and all, this is a far cry from the male dominated sports betting scene of a few decades ago and a positive development for the entire online wagering industry.
