Online Wagering Spot Light on Tiger Woods: An Awful 2010 Draws to a Close. 2010 has been a year to forget for golfing superstar and online wagering mainstay, Tiger Woods. Without speculating on his personal life it would seem safe to say that this may have been the worst year of his life.

In terms of golf and golf wagering this hasn’t been his worst year as a professional but it’s been close.  And he hasn’t performed this poorly since his early days on tour as a 20-year old fresh out of Stanford.  So in a way, it has been his worst year since he established himself on the PGA Tour he’s been little more than an afterthought in most of the online wagering companies’ golf lines.

He officially ended his PGA Tour season as he was unceremoniously eliminated from the sport’s version of the season ending playoff, the FedEx Cup on Sunday.  Dustin Johnson continued his torrid play by winning the BMW Championship by 1 stroke (-9) on Sunday.

Woods was never really in contention breaking 70 just once, in the third round on Saturday (68) and closed the round with a 70 on Sunday.  With his tied for 15th finish he was eliminated from the competition and will watch the final of the event from home -if at all- after winning the event in 2007 and 2009.

So what next for the world’s richest athlete and greatest golfer to ever walk the planet?  If history is any indication Woods will bounce back and be better than ever.  There have been several low points in his career previously and he’s always bounced back as good as new.  It would be very surprising if Woods did not come back better than ever after this offseason.

Online wagering experts have been far too quick to dismiss Woods as being finished as the world’s best golfer.  True, there is handful of exciting young players (Johnson included) that has consistently cleaned Woods clock this season and he’s been unable to keep up with their scorching play.

But that’s simply more motivation for Woods.  It’s actually perhaps quite a dangerously thing.  Woods has rarely had competition as a professional golfer despite a few years here in there where he battled (in chronological order) David Duval, Vijay Singh and Phil Mickelson for the world #1 ranking in golf.

Those battles were always short-lived and Woods always emerged on top and better than ever.  And that’s what online wagering fans should expect of the 2011 Tiger Woods as well.
