You’ll find almost no argument among the offshore wagering community as to which is the most important position on the field when it comes to NFL action. But the way things are trending this NFL preseason it seems like Quarterbacks have a bigger impact on the game every year that goes by.
Take for example the most recent batch of NFL preseason games (Colts vs. Packers, Rams vs. Patriots) in which the QBs dominated the games and put on spectacular performances.
Big scores, big plays and big stats characterized the Thursday night action but then again that shouldn’t’ be all that big of a surprise for offshore wagering fans as three of the best in the business were plying their trade on the field on that evening.Still, even the fourth QB in this group, to the surprise of many was on top of his game and looked like a savvy veteran.
Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers and Sam Bradford: one of those names doesn’t quite fit. Manning and Brady are two first ballot hall of famers, Aaron Rodgers is a Pro Bowler and one of the best signal callers on the planet; Sam Bradford is a rookie QB yet to see a single play of NFL regular season action.
But you wouldn’t know it judging by his play against the Pats, game in which most online wagering companies expected the Rams to get buried. The rook completed 15-22 passes for 189 yards, 2 TDS and 0 INTs. He even led his team to a score on his drive of his first NFL preseason start and his Rams won 36-35.
Don’t expect Tom Brady to be worried though about dropping a preseason matchup. Brady looked as good as ever and the first team offense was unstoppable. Brady was as close to perfect as possible complete 18-22 passes for 273 yards, 3 TDs, 0 INTs and a mindboggling 158.0 passer rating.
But that was hardly the only game on the online wagering companies’ betting boards that was dominated by QB play. Perhaps the best performance of the evening by any QB was Rodgers dismantling of the Indy defense.
Green Bay’s QB complete 21-29 passes for 195 yards, 3 TDs, O Ints and a 124.9 passer rating as his team rolled up 59 points on the evening!
In a rare occurrence, the ‘worst’ performance in this quartet of talented QBs was put in by NFL MVP Peyton Manning. Manning, was 15-26, with 214 yards, 2 TDs and 1 INT. Not bad, but certainly not the near perfection we’ve come to expect.
