Preakness Stakes Betting – Animal Kingdom’s Owner is Confident . The favorite in Preakness Stakes betting on Saturday afternoon is Kentucky Derby winner Animal Kingdom and his owner is very confident.

Barry Irwin, the head of Team Valor who owns Animal Kingdom has said that Animal Kingdom might not even have to run as fast as he did in the Derby to win the Preakness. Animal Kingdom is the 2-1 favorite in Preakness betting at Sbgglobal.

The Kentucky Derby doesn’t seem to have taken anything out of Animal Kingdom.  He has worked superbly this week in preparation for Saturday’s Preakness Stakes. Irwin said that the quick turnaround can always be a concern with a horse but the extra long break that Animal Kingdom got before the Derby (six weeks) has made a big difference as Animal Kingdom looks fresh. Normally horses going into the three Triple Crown races would have had a race within a few weeks of the Kentucky Derby but that was not the case with Animal Kingdom and the extra rest seems to have helped him.

Three Horses at Single Digit Odds
In the full field of 14 for Saturday’s Preakness Stakes there are only three horses with single-digit odds. Animal Kingdom is the 2-1 favorite in Preakness Stakes betting while Dialed In is 9-2 and Mucho Macho Man is 6-1.  The other 11 horses in the field are all listed at 12-1 or higher in Preakness betting. Six horses are considered longshots in the field with odds of either 20-1 or 30-1.
