Preakness Stakes Wagering Favorite at SBG Global

Preakness Stakes wagering odds have Big Brown as the prohibitive favorite for the 2008 race. The 133rd running of the Preakness Stakes on May 17th from Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland will have Big Brown at odds of 2-5 or less against a Preakness wagering field numbering from 8-10 horses. The winner of the Kentucky Derby has been the Preakness wagering winner in six of the last 11 runnings of the Preakness Stakes.

Preakness Stakes wagering favorite Big Brown may not have any competition from Derby horses. All of the Derby trainers said they will point their horses to other races and not be part of the Preakness wagering field. The only possible horse that could be part of the Preakness wagering filed that was in the Derby is Recapturetheglory and he is a longshot to come back and be part of the Preakness wagering field.

2008 Preakness Stakes wagering odds will show that Big Brown dominates the rest of the field. He is ridden by Hall of Fame jockey Kent Desormeaux who won five riding titles at Pimlico from 1987 to 1989. He won in Preakness Stakes wagering with Real Quiet in 1998 and has started 10 times in the Preakness. The Preakness wagering field could have eight horses to challenge Big Brown. They are Behindatthebar (Lexington Stakes winner); El Gato Malo (San Rafael winner); Giant Moon (Count Fleet winner); Harlem Rocker (Withers winner); Kentucky Bear (third, Blue Grass); Stevil (fourth, Blue Grass) Tres Borrachos, (third, Arkansas Derby) and Yankee Bravo (California Derby winner).

The Preakness wagering field will be much smaller than the Derby field. The Preakness wagering field is limited to 14 starters compared to the 20 in the Derby. Most of the time in Preakness Stakes wagering the field is smaller than 14. It should be noted though that in 13 of the last 16 years, the Preakness wagering field has seen at least 10 starters. That probably won’t be the case with 2008 Preakness wagering though with Big Brown such a heavy favorite.
